A fit looking Chris Munce has declared he is over a bout of possible heat stroke and is 100 per cent ready to win his second Melbourne Cup next Tuesday.

Munce, who won the 1998 Melbourne Cup on Jezabeel, has the mount on Dear Demi in Australia’s most famous race.

The John Singleton-owned Dear Demi turned in a top Cup trial with a third in the Caulfield Cup.

Munce was stood down from riding at Eagle Farm on Saturday when he complained of seeing stars and feeling faint after riding Runway Angel into fourth place in the first race.

He missed Sunday’s Sunshine Coast meeting but was given a doctor’s clearance on Tuesday to ride at Eagle Farm the following day.

“I feel fine. I don’t know what it was. It was a hot, steamy day and I have been going a bit hard but I took it easy for a few days and I am over it now,” Munce said.

He said the weight was dropping off him “nicely” and he remained on track to get down to 51kg to ride Dear Demi on Tuesday.

Munce will travel to Melbourne on Saturday to ride the Clarry Conners-trained mare in the Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington.
