This special day of racing and entertainment is always a major highlight of the Melbourne racing calendar, and this year should be just as exciting as ever. There are four Group 1 races hosted on Victoria Derby Day, including the Mackinnon Stakes, Coolmore Stud Stakes, and Myer Classic along with the Derby itself. While the Victoria Derby may be the main attraction, having four Group 1 races on a single day is also a fantastic draw card. The first race takes place at 11.20am, with events scheduled throughout the day until the last event at 5.10pm.

Black and white has long been the traditional colour scheme for women on the day, with men often choosing a morning suit together with a peacock vest and pin stripe pants.

Gates open at 8.30am, with the first race run at 11.20am and the last race at 5.10pm. There are a number of ticketing options available for Victoria Derby Day, with tickets available from ticketek. ‘The day for racing purists’ is one of the most anticipated racing programs all year, and sets the tone for the upcoming Melbourne Cup and remainder of the Spring Racing Carnival.
