2014 JJ Atkins Tips: Brazen Beau’s odds tell the tale

The Chris Waller-trained Brazen Beau ($2.1) was unlucky when a fast-finishing second in the BRC Sires’ Produce over 1350m at Doomben on May 24 behind Time For War ($9). The I Am Invincible colt jumped awkwardly that day but previously scored a soft win in the group 2 Champagne Classic over 1200m at Doomben on May 10.

Brazen Beau ($2.1) seems suited at the 1600m and at the bigger Eagle Farm track.

Time For War ($9) led all the way in the Sires’ and will again give them something to chase from barrier one.

Brazen Beau is short odds to wins the 2014 JJ Atkins at Eagle Farm

The John O’Shea-trained Careless ($16) motored home for fifth behind Time For War ($9) and is crying out for 1600m and further.

Looks Like The Cat ($8) was third in the same race and has also been finishing off his races and should be at his peak for this group 1. He is from the form stable of rising Queensland trainer Tony Gollan.

The fresh horse on the scene is the unbeaten Almalad ($4.6) from the Gai Waterhouse stable, which opened his account at Gosford in December before easily winning over 1200m at Randwick on May 24. Almalad ($4.6) is a promising Al Maher gelding but this is a big step up in class and distance.

Tip: Brazen Beau looks very hard to beat but you will have to take the short odds. Time For War looks a great each way bet in the race having won well in Queensland last start.
