There are five Group 1 races in Sydney on Saturday, but the nation’s focus will be well and truly locked on The Valley when $5 million goes on the line in the 2023 All-Star Mile.
The All-Star Mile has only produced four winners since its inception, but it has quickly taken a major position in the Autumn Carnival landscape, and some of the world’s best milers will be in action again this year.
You can find my complete 2023 All-Star Mile Tips below!
Suggested Bets
- 4 Units straight out #2 Alligator Blood
- Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
All-Star Mile – Winner
He’s arguably the best miler in the country, he is a fitting favourite in All-Star Mile betting, and I’ve got Alligator Blood on top.
You’d be forgiven for thinking that his career was done at this point last year, but since returning during the Brisbane Winter Carnival, he has been nothing short of incredible.
Having gone to the paddock after recording a fourth career Group 1 win in the Champions Mile, Alligator Blood was sent off a popular pick in the Futurity Stakes first-up this time and didn’t disappointing, greeting the judge more than a length ahead of his rivals.
He’ll only improve second-up and out to a mile, and Blake Shinn keeps the ride.
Suggested Bet: No. 2 Alligator Blood
All-Star Mile – 2nd
It is something of a speculative bet, but former European Alenquer makes his Australian debut in the All-Star Mile 2023, and the $17 about him at publish could prove to be enormous overs.
Alenquer was nothing short of excellent during his Euro tenure, recording multiple black type victories, highlighted by a win in last year’s Group 1 Tatt’s Gold Cup at The Curragh, and a couple of appearances in the Arc.
Of his five career wins, three have came at this point of his preparation, and clearly, he has class to spare.
He has reportedly settled into Mike Moroney’s stables well and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him crowned the 2023 All-Star Mile winner.
Suggested Bet: No. 8 Alenquer
All-Star Mile – 3rd
I’m not convinced that he’s going as well as he could be, but I can’t get I’m Thunderstruck’s performance in the Cox Plate here at The Valley in spring out of my head!
There’s no denying the horse’s class and ability: He’s a multiple Group 1 winner, a Golden Eagle winner and has been a consistent performer at the highest level for a couple of seasons now.
So far this time, he has finished fourth in the CF Orr Stakes and third in the Futurity, and I just found his lack of acceleration in the latter a little concerning.
Mick Price & Mick Kent Jnr are reportedly thrilled with him, however, and I’m Thunderstruck has drawn ideally into the All-Star Mile field.
Suggested Bet: No. 1 I’m Thunderstruck
All-Star Mile – 4th
Another galloper that I think is over the odds in All-Star Mile betting is Aegon ($21 at publish).
Aegon was nothing short of outstanding during his three-year-old season, winning a Group 1 in his native New Zealand and the Karaka Millions 3YO race most notably, while also performing well in Australia.
He returned to form during the recent spring season, winning the Moonga Stakes in Melbourne and only just missing in the Group 1 Captain Cook in New Zealand, while he has improved for two starts back this time.
Fitter third-up and out to a mile, I think he can run a really checky race on Saturday.
Suggested Bet: No. 7 Aegon
