Horse Racing News: Best of Bravo Centurion not far away: Parnham

Star jockey Chris Parnham admits he’s been excited about Bravo Centurion’s return to racing, as he eyes a fourth straight win in tomorrow’s Reliable Asset Maintenance Handicap (1000m) at Belmont.

The gelding steps up in grade again tomorrow, where he’s expected to maintain his winning ways.

Bravo Centurion proved far too good for his rivals at the same track and distance last Saturday, winning by almost five lengths.

Fresh from his four winners on Wednesday’s Belmont card, Chris Parnham said the future looked bright for the Luke Fernie-trained galloper.

“He seems like he’s come on leaps and bounds from his last preparation and his racing reflects that,” Parnham told TABradio.

“He seems to have improved with each run as well.

“This prep he seems to be putting it all together.”

The son of National Defense is the $1.55 favourite with betting sites for tomorrow’s event, while Under Influence ($4.80) is the only other runner under $10.

Parnham said he hoped to be able to control the race from the front again.

“He’s got dynamite speed,” he said.

“He kicks off the corner and the way he’s won this preparation he hasn’t given his rivals a chance.

“Tomorrow will be interesting because there’s a runner engaged that has the same, if not more, speed as him.

“We will have to weigh that up.”

Parnham also teams up with last start maiden winner Allentown in the National Pump & Energy Plate (1000m) and said he expected the three-year-old to “match it with them”
