Premier Melbourne trainer Peter Moody is tossing up whether to put one of his newest stable acquisitions to the test in Saturday’s Group Three Bletchingly Stakes or to choose a more friendly introduction to Melbourne racing.

Kneeling, a former member of Nathan Tinkler’s Patinack team, has shown an appreciation for Moody’s methods with wins at her only two starts for him.

Both wins were on rain affected tracks in Queensland and the likelihood of a soft track at Caulfield makes Kneeling an appealing prospect in either the Bletchingly Stakes or the fillies and mares handicap.

Now owned by Yarraman Park, Kneeling’s only win in 15 starts for her previous owner came at her second start in Listed company at Moonee Valley.

She then competed almost exclusively at stakes level in both Sydney and Melbourne before Moody lowered the bar and coaxed a convincing Doomben win from Kneeling followed by a narrow victory against her own sex at the Sunshine Coast.

Kneeling is one of 15 entries for the Bletchingly including Pago Rock, Elite Elle, Second Effort and Stanzout who filled the first four placings in the Sir John Monash Stakes.

Moody’s fellow Caulfield trainer Mick Price is also considering running some talented newcomers on Saturday, including the former Queenslander Anagold.

Formerly trained by Brian Guy, Anagold is nominated the 1800m open handicap for which she is the highest-rated entry.

Price said the mare had become difficult to place in Queensland.

“With her rating she’s an open handicapper and I don’t think Queensland affords that type of mare a chance at the better prize money,” Price said.

“She’s settled in good, she worked super here on Saturday morning and is going great.”

Anagold won the Ipswich Cup (2150m two runs back and last start finished eighth in a highly-competitive Caloundra Cup (2400m).
