Champion jockey Damien Oliver will miss Tuesday weeks Melbourne Cup after his appeal to reduce his 20meeting ban was dismissed.
Damien Oliver received a 20meeting ban for his ride on Happy Clapper in the Cox Plate in which he appealed against although at the hearing this afternoon stewards dismissed his appeal meaning the 20meeting ban will remain ruling him out of riding Almandin in the Melbourne Cup.
On the back of the news owner Lloyd Williams has announced International jockey Frankie Dettori will ride Almandin in the Cup.
Oliver’s 20-meeting suspension will expire on November 16.
