The time-honoured Coolmore Classic headlines the ten-race program at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday and typically, it is a wide-open affair.
Won by the likes of Con Te Partiro ($26), Daysee Doom ($23) and Heavens Above ($31) in recent years, there is a genuine argument to be made for the Coolmore Classic being THE MOST open Group 1 feature on the Australian racing calendar, and at publish, we are faced with $6.50 the field in 2023 Coolmore Classic betting.
I’ve had a crack, and you can find my complete 2023 Coolmore Classic Tips below.
Suggested Bets
- 3 Units E/W #3 Hope In Your Heart
- Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
Coolmore Classic – Winner
Kerry Parker is one of the best horsemen in New South Wales, if not the southern hemisphere, and he has unearthed another serious Group 1 talent in Hope In You Heart.
Hope In Your Heart has recorded six wins from her twenty career starts to date, placing a further four times, and she has continued to improve with each preparation, and as the bar has been raised.
Her spring campaign heralded wins in the Tibbie Stakes and Angst Stakes most notably, while she also only just missed in both The Golden Eagle and The Gong.
Having returned an eye-catching winner of the Guy Walter Stakes a fortnight ago, I’m confident that she’ll only improve for that effort, and getting out to 1500m in the Coolmore Classic.
Suggested Bet: No. 3 Hope In Your Heart
Coolmore Classic – 2nd
Zougotcha looked the winner of the Surround Stakes a fortnight ago before somehow dropping out of the placings in a photo, and she has opened the early favourite in Coolmore Classic betting.
The Zoustar filly was faultless during her spring prep last year, recording three wins from as many starts, peaking with the Group 1 Flight Stakes.
She was unlucky not to get there first-up this time, and with natural improvement into this race, plus a drop in the weights, she can fight out the finish again.
Suggested Bet: No. 5 Zougotcha
Coolmore Classic – 3rd
Last year’s Queen Of The Turf Stakes runner up is still chasing her first win at the highest level, and Annavisto gets another chance in Saturday’s Coolmore Classic.
Annavisto has been a good horse for the Price & Kent Jnr yard for a few seasons now, but it is fair to say that she went to a new level last year, and she proved that she was up to this level.
She was nothing short of dominant when greeting the judge nearly four lengths ahead of her rivals in the Frances Tressady Stakes last month, and I am only expecting her to improve second-up into the Coolmore Classic.
Suggested Bet: No. 2 Annavisto
Coolmore Classic – 4th
Hinged takes her place in the 2023 Coolmore Classic field third-up, and the booking of James McDonald certainly enhances her winning claims.
The Worthy Cause mare only managed to finish midfield in the Chipping Norton Stakes last time out, but she was only half a length behind Anamoe in the Apollo Stakes first up, and a repeat of that performance would likely be good enough in a race like this one.
She’s a Group 1 winner, she looks to be near, if not at peak fitness this week, and she adds a bit of value to our 2023 Coolmore Classic first four.
Suggested Bet: No. 1 Hinged
