Caulfield Cup runner-up Dandino has firmed from $13 in $11 third favouritism at Sportingbet for Tuesday’s Melboune Cup after attracting a large number of significant wagers.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said punters are rallying behind the Caulfield Cup runners after Dear Demi, which placed 3rd in the Caulfield Cup, franked the form with an impressive second in Saturday’s Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington.
“Dandino has attracted heavy support since the barrier draw and we’ve written a string of wagers for him including bets of $10,000, $6,000 and $5,000,” Sullivan said.
“Caulfield Cup winner Fawkner has also been smashed from $26 into $19 after a long list of big bets,” Sullivan said.
Dear Demi, which firmed from $26 into $15 after the Mackinnon Stakes, has eased slightly to $17 at Sportingbet. Dear Demi’s owner John Singleton stands to collect more than $2 million from Sportingbet should the mare win, after Australia’s larrikin punter placed $50,000 the win and $25,000 the place on her at odds of $41 after the Caulfield Cup.
The Gai Waterhouse trained Fiorente and International galloper Mount Athos continue to battle for favouritism at Sportingbet.
