Nominations in for Day 2 of The Championships

If races are as good as the TJ from Saturday, then Day 2 of The Championships at Randwick will be spectacular. And we have so much international flavour on show.

The G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at that Championship distance pits Australia’s best WFA horse Anamoe ($2.50) against a real quality horse as Dubai Honour ($2.50) seeks to repeat the Addeybb double for William Haggas.

But the race doesn’t end there with the Japanese in town via Unicorn Lion ($8), an ex-Euro in Alenquer ($26) and Australian Cup winner Cascadian ($15).

Speaking of the Europeans, they will be right in the G1 Sydney Cup (3200m) up to their navels with the likes of Cleveland ($3.50) for Joseph O’Brien, as well as Baron Samedi ($11) plus those who began life there such as Cup winner Gold Trip ($11) and King Frankel ($8).

The fillies chase their own G1 glory in the Australian Oaks (2400m) with several chances and as Saturday showed, anything is possible once they get up in trip.

Pavitra ($3) has class but will see her favouritism challenged in the race by others like Arts ($6) and Premise ($15) from the Adrian Knox. However the kiwis are here too with Polygon ($8) and Pennyweka ($4.50) and even the Slipper winner Fireburn ($11) will hold interest.

Finally the G1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) is another race with such global attraction.

Ex-English mare now at Tulloch Lodge Alcohol Free ($3.50) will be taking on the kiwi Levante ($4.50) alongside the locals such as Atishu ($11) and Espiona ($15).

More million dollar races are the G2 Arrowfield 3yo Sprint (1200m) for some of the top sprinting youngsters such as What You Need ($2.30) and Aft Cabin ($2.80).

Then the 2yo fillies chase the big bucks too in the G2 Percy Sykes (1200m) and Black Opal winner Autumn Ballet ($3) will be a big focus. Another is Tiz Invincible ($11) out of the same race.

Other highlights on Day 2 are the Final of the Provincial-Midway Championships (1400m) along with the G2 Sapphire Stakes, Listed South Pacific Classic and the Listed Fernhill Mile in a cracking meeting.
