One of Australia’s top three-year-old fillies will go under the hammer later this year with Kimochi confirmed for Inglis’ Chairman’s Sale in May.
The two-time Group 1 placegetter, a daughter of Brave Smash, has been confirmed for the May 9 sale, where she will be one of the headline lots alongside Champagne Stakes and VRC Oaks winner She’s Extreme.
Kimochi will race on with Gary Portelli this autumn, with several Group 1 targets on the agenda, which her owner Leo To hopes will only add to her value before the sale, where she will be offered as a racing and breeding prospect.
“Our feeling is that there is a lot of racing left in her and clearly she is capable of winning plenty of good races in the future, but I maintain a significant breeding enterprise and to sustain that, I must trade when the opportunity presents itself,” To said.
“She has an exciting autumn in front of her, with the Group 1 Surround (Stakes) an early target, with the option of going to the Group 1 Coolmore Classic or the Group 1 Vinery after that.
“One of her best attributes is her versatility – she has lots of speed, as her form shows – but Gary and I are optimistic that she will also prove capable of being effective at beyond a mile, which opens up even more options.”
A $21,000 Australian Weanling Sale purchase, Kimochi has amassed $725,900 in stakes despite winning just one race, a midweek two-year-old fillies’ handicap on the Kensington track at Randwick.
She is yet to miss a place in nine starts with her performances including second placings in the Flight Stakes (1600m) and Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Group 1 level during spring.
