Eagle Farm Races Tips, Race Previews and Selections – 29/7/2023

Eagle Farm will host Brisbane’s major metropolitan meeting this week and nine races are on the program.

I’ve had a dig into the form of every galloper engaged, and all of my thoughts and Eagle Farm Tips can be found below!

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?

Sky Racing QTIS Handicap (1400m) – 11:28am

Sydneysider Star Act can break her maiden in the first at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The Snitzel filly was unlucky to only just be denied at Canterbury two starts back and was just over half a length behind the winner at Doomben last week.

I like that she’s on the short back up and she can fight out the finish again.

Suggested Bet: No. 11 Star Act

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 1

Country Music Raceday 9 September BM78 Handicap (2400m) – 12:03pm

Sky Out is a dual acceptor on Saturday, but this looks the best target for him in my opinion.

The Adlerflug gelding has been close to the mark a few times since resuming, before returning to winning form in utterly dominant fashion at Gosford last time out.

He’s hard fit, while Saturday metro company looks perfect for him.

Suggested Bet: No. 1 Sky Out

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 2

Giddy Up Club BM78 Handicap (1815m) – 12:38pm

Happy to stick with Galifianakis in the third at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The Dandy Man gelding was freshened following four wins on the trot back in autumn, and he has stripped fitter for a couple of starts back in metro company.

Fitter third-up and from the good draw, he can fight out the finish again.

Suggested Bet: No. 6 Galifianakis

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 3

Eva Air Class 3 Plate (1300m) – 1:13pm

Kanazawa returned an eye-catching effort to fill the minors in his first start for Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted, and I am confident he’ll take a power of beating at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The former Godolphin galloper ended his last prep third behind subsequent two-time Group 1 winner Think About It back in February, and was just a length behind the winner at Doomben earlier this month.

He has always been competitive second-up and with even luck, I don’t think he’ll be offered a better opportunity to win in town than this.

Suggested Bet: No. 3 Kanazawa

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 4

Ladbrokes Communities Open Handicap (1600m) – 1:48pm

Fast Talking will take plenty of improvement into his second campaign start at Eagle Farm on Saturday, and I am confident it’s the perfect race for him.

The David Vandyke-trained gelding has been a model of consistency throughout his career, and after striking in BM90 company at the end of his last prep, he returned this time to fill the minors behind the likes of Blaze A Trail a fortnight ago.

From the good draw and under Kyle Wilson-Taylor, he’s going to take plenty of beating this week.

Suggested Bet: No. 1 Fast Talking

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 5

Stable Club QTIS 3YO Handicap (1400m) – 2:23pm

Freedom Rally has opened an odds-on favourite in betting ahead of Race 6 at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The Rubick gelding has made just four appearances at the races so far, but has won on three occasions, including both starts back this time.

Fitter third-up, I think he’ll win again, but he is too short for me at $1.65 (at publish), so I am instead going to select him as the winner in a Same Race Multi and build out my bet further with Plundering running into the first three.

Same Race Multi selections:

  • 4 Freedom Rally (Win)
  • 2 Plundering (Top 3)

Suggested Bet: Same Race Multi

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 6

Millers Swim School QTIS 3YO Fillies Handicap (1200m) – 3:02pm

This looks to be one of the more open races on the program, and I am going to give Queen Assassin another chance to win.

Queen Assassin was very good at the beginning of her prep, recording consecutive wins at Kilcoy and the Sunshine Coast, but she struggled in Listed company here at Eagle Farm early last month.

Having been freshened, she returned last week to finish fourth behind the likes of Vodka Martini at Doomben, and I am confident that run will have brought her right back on.

Suggested Bet: No. 4 Queen Assassin

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 7

Ascot Childcare & Kindy QTIS Class 6 Plate (1200m) – 3:42pm

Deepour looks to have a lot in his favour ahead of the penultimate race in Brisbane on Saturday, and he’s primed to strike.

The Exosphere gelding was a dominant winner out at Ipswich last month, and after getting a long way back in the Ramornie Handicap last time out, he powered home to finish fourth.

With further improvement into this race and settling a little closer to the speed, I really can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.

Suggested Bet: No. 1 Deepour

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 8

Mount Franklin BM85 Handicap (1400m) – 4:22pm

It has been a little while since he tasted success, but I thought that this looked a really nice race for Kinloch.

Kinloch famously won the Provincial Championships Final at Randwick last year, and while he has returned some nice performances since, he hasn’t managed to win.

So far this time, he’s finished third in a pair of 1200m sprints here at Eagle Farm and gets out to his pet trip this week in good order.

Suggested Bet: No. 2 Kinloch

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 9
