Eagle Farm Races Tips, Race Previews and Selections – 5/8/2023

Another nine races will be run and won at Brisbane’s premier racecourse, Eagle Farm, on Saturday August 5th.

I’ve run the rule over every acceptor, and you can find my complete Eagle Farm Tips below!

BRC Membership On Sale Now Class 3 Plate (1000m) – 11:38am

Devastating finished second in a very similar race here at Eagle Farm when resuming, and this looks the perfect opportunity for him to go one better.

The Exceed And Excel gelding returned some nice performances last time in, and I thought that he was excellent off a long break last month.

With natural improvement, I think he’s going to take a power of beating.

Suggested Bet: No. 6 Devastating

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 1

Mount Franklin BM90 Handicap (2200m) – 12:13pm

Kirkeby takes winning form into this contest, and it looks an arguably weaker one!

The Chris Waller-trained gelding has improved noticeably with each start back this time, and was rewarded for his condition over a mile and a half at Rosehill.

He’s hard fit, the small drop in trip shouldn’t hurt and he should relish racing on the big Eagle Farm track.

Suggested Bet: No. 2 Kirkeby

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 2

National Jockeys Celebration Day 3YO BM70 Handicap (1200m) – 12:48pm

Tango Fever returned a winner here at Eagle Farm last month, and she can continue her rise through the grades this week.

She was decent during her brief debut prep without recording an elusive win, but she got the monkey off her back with a dominant fresh effort.

I’m only expecting improvement for that run and she is my best bet on the program.

Suggested Bet: No. 3 Tango Fever

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 3

Country Music Raceday 9 September BM85 Handicap (1000m) – 1:23pm

Hold On Honey hasn’t been seen at the races since March, but he flies fresh and I’m keen on him first-up at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The Counterattack gelding won each of his first three starts back last time and didn’t miss a placing in six combined starts throughout his prep.

He’s had the benefit of a sharp trial in the lead-up to this return and is weighted extremely well.

Suggested Bet: No. 6 Hold On Honey

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 4

Sky Racing Fillies & Mares BM72 Handicap (1200m) – 1:58pm

This looks a pretty open race, and I thought that Amathuba looked a winning chance at nice odds.

Amathuba hasn’t won in five starts back this time, but she has raced well around some quality gallopers, and almost exclusively in metro races.

She’s hard fit and was only a length and a half from the winner here at her latest and we can have an each way play at current odds.

Suggested Bet: No. 11 Amathuba

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 5

Spring Carnival On Sale Now CG&E BM72 Handicap (1200m) – 2:33pm

Orlabent faces a rise in class into this race, but he has been excellent this time in, and it does look a great opportunity for him to transition into Saturday metro company.

The Hellbent gelding finished second in maiden company at Scone in his first start back and is since faultless, winning in maiden company, Class 1 company and BM64 company since.

Andrew Mallyon and a decent barrier add further confidence.

Suggested Bet: No. 13 Orlabent

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 6

Ladbrokes Yard Comments No Metro Wins Handicap (1400m) – 3:12pm

Brentwood has been a great horse for the Gollan yard this time in, and he strikes another winnable race at Eagle Farm this week.

The I Am Invincible gelding has won three of his last five starts, only just missing on another occasion, and he has continued to improve as the bar has been raised.

A repeat of his last-start effort in BM70 company at Doomben would see him fighting out the finish again on Saturday.

Suggested Bet: No. 11 Brentwood

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 7

XXXX Open Handicap (1400m) – 3:48pm

Major Artie steps out second-up and primed to strike.

The Artie Schiller gelding returned some smart efforts under the care of Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott earlier in his career, but clearly needed his first run for the Richard & Will Freedman yard when finishing five lengths behind Brutality at Randwick.

With improvement and dropping in both class and at the weights, this really does look beautiful placement.

Suggested Bet: No. 9 Major Artie

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 8

Gallopers Sports Club BM78 Handicap (1600m) – 4:23pm

I’m expecting Rejoiced to go straight to the lead again from Barrier 1 this week and prove difficult to catch.

Rejoiced hasn’t missed placing in four starts back from a break, winning twice, including his dominant performance over 1600m here last time out.

He gets some relief in the weights, looked to be in peak order and I really can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.

Suggested Bet: No. 1 Rejoiced

Bet Now: Eagle Farm Race 9
