Crosswinds will be looking to make it three wins from three starts as he chases a big payday at Caulfield this Saturday with victory in the $1 million VOBIS Showdown.
Run over 1200m for two-year-olds, the Showdown field will be headlined by the exciting Anthony & Sam Freedman trained colt who made a strong impression when winning the listed Valley Pearl on William Reid Stakes night at Moonee Valley.
Speaking with Andrew Bensley on SEN, racing manager Brad Taylor confirmed the colt would be taking his place.
“He’s going really well. This has been a target race for him the entire way through, we wanted to get that stakes win on the here but the million dollar race was the target of this preparation,” said Brad.
Spacing his runs seems to have been the key to his furnishing, as Sam Freedman suggested after his last win.
“He still doesn’t know quite what he’s doing but he’s got a good motor there. No doubt he’s going to improve at three” said Sam.
Jockey Mark Zahra, who is likely to keep his association with the horse, thinks Crosswinds will continue to improve with racing.
“He’s still quite green… I wouldn’t say he’s one of the early ones that jumps and runs, but he’s got the ability to be up there with the better ones,” said Zahra after the Moonee Valley win.
The Showdown was won by favourite Finance Tycoon last year and Crosswinds has opened $4.50 favourite (all in) with the TAB for Saturday’s edition.
