Favourite drifts in Golden Rose 2013 market

Boom Melbourne colt Prince Harada continues to drift in betting for Saturday’s million dollar Golden Rose Stakes at Rosehill.

A $3.60 chance yesterday morning, Prince Harada eased out to $4 after drawing barrier one and is now out to $4.40.

“Prince Harada could get out to $5 plus. We are keen to take him on as we think he is a huge risk from barrier one at his first start in Sydney, but so far the punters don’t want anything to do with him,” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.

“He’s missed the start in every race he has contested, if he does that again on Saturday from the inside gate he’ll have a wall of horses in front of him and need a miracle to get out.”

Fellow Victorian, Fast ‘N’ Rocking remains a firm second favourite at $5.50 and could press for favouritism.

“We think Fast ‘N’ Rocking is the horse to beat. He beat Prince Harada home last start, has drawn a better barrier and has experience at Rosehill running fifth in a Golden Slipper,” Felgate said.

The Anthony Cummings-trained Cluster has been best backed since the barrier draw, firming from $11 into $8.50 with money also for one-time Golden Rose favourite Sidestep, $14 into $12.

Zoustar has had no support since drawing barrier 17 drifting from $7 out to $10.
