Favourites odds drift in 2014 Magic Millions Guineas market

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Sweet Idea has drifted after drawing wide in Saturday’s Gold Coast Magic Millions Three-Year-Old Guineas.

Sweet Idea has been wound out from $4.20 out to $4.60 after drawing poorly in gate 15, while a favourable barrier draw for second in betting Enquare has seen her shorten from $5.50 into $4.80.

“Sweet Idea was narrowly beaten last year in the two-year-old race, and is looking to make it one better this year in the three-year-old edition,” Betstar’s Alan Eskander said.

“She has drawn barrier 15 which isn’t ideal and in turn she’s been wound out to $4.60. Meanwhile second in bettingEnquare has firmed from $5.50 into $4.80 after drawing barrier two.”

Charlie Boy has also drifted from $6 out to $7.50 after drawing wide in gate 16.

Meanwhile Unencumbered has maintained favouritism for Saturday’s Gold Coast Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic after drawing barrier three.

Invisible and Oakleigh Girl have remained rock solid at $5 and $8 respectively after also drawing well.

Invisible will jump from gate seven, while Oakleigh Girl will start in barrier six.

“Unencumbered has drawn nicely in three, and holds favouritism in the market at $4,” Eskander said.

“The Bjorn Baker-trained colt is looking to make it four in a row, and from that draw he should be able to position himself just behind the speed, and be given every chance late.”

“Oakleigh girl remains solid at $8 after drawing well in seven. She had to do too much work in the lead up, so with a softer run here she should certainly improve.”

Melbourne two-year-old Nordic Empire has drifted from $9 out to $12 after drawing wide.

“Nordic empire looks to have the task ahead of him starting from barrier 19 and as a result he has been wound out to $12 from $9,” Eskander said.

“In other market moves, Cyclone has been the big firmer after drawing barrier 1. He has shortened from $16 into $12.”
