G1 winner set to Star in Inglis online digital sale

Group One winner Funstar is predicted to set a record price for an online sale when she is offered through the upcoming Inglis Digital auction.

A daughter of Cox Plate winner Adelaide out of Danehill mare Starspangled, Funstar is well-related being a half-sister to 2019 Queensland Oaks winner Youngstar and from the same family as recent Stradbroke HandicapTattersall’s Tiara winner Tofane.

Inglis Digital’s business manager Nick Melmeth said it was rare for a mare of Funstar’s quality to come up for public auction.

“This is an extraordinary privilege to be given the opportunity to offer a mare such as Funstar for public sale,” Melmeth said.

“The family has developed incredibly in the past three years and it’s exciting to think where it’s going to get to over the next 10 years with the opportunities that are now being afforded around the world.

“Mares like her simply don’t come onto the open market very often, she is a truly rare commodity that every major breeder around the world should be taking notice of.”

Trained by Chris Waller, Funstar won five of her 18 starts and almost $1.15 million in prize money, highlighted by her Group 1 Flight Stakes success over archrival Probabeel in 2019.

She is being offered as a racing and breeding prospect.
