Golden Slipper Tips, Field Preview and Selections – 2021

The 2021 Golden Slipper headlines an enormous day of racing at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday and we are set for one of the most interesting editions of the race in recent memory.

Profiteer and Stay Inside have opened as equal favourites, while you can make a case for almost every runner in the race.

We have analysed the entire field and our complete 2021 Golden Slipper tips can be found below!

Shaquero

Shaquero is the value runner in the 2021 Golden Slipper and he is well and truly over the odds at his current quote.
He has already won the Breeders’ Stakes and the Magic Millions Classic, while he bounced back to his best form to win the Pago Pago Stakes last weekend.
The major concern is the wet track, he flopped badly in the Skyline Stakes, but he still has too much ability to be going around at such juicy odds.

Profiteer

Profiteer is the equal favourite in our Golden Slipper market and there is no doubt that he is one of the leading chances.
He stamped himself as a genuine Golden Slipper contender with his win in the Inglis Millennium and he was wasn’t beaten far after overracing in the Todman Stakes.
His racing manners are still a work in progress and there is every chance he will overrace in the early stages again and that could leave him vulnerable in the concluding stages.
I am happy to take him on at the current price.

Artorius

Artorius is the horse to beat in the 2021 Golden Slipper and he is outstanding value at his current quote.
He relished the step-up in class to score a truly outstanding win in the Blue Diamond Stakes and the Flying Artie colt still looks to have an enormous amount of upside.
The wide barrier draw shouldn’t be an issue as he will get back in the run anyway and he does have an excellent turn-of-foot.
There is enough speed in this race to give the backmarkers their opportunity and he will be flying home late.

Ingratiating

Ingratiating is on the quick back-up after failing to fire in the Pago Pago Stakes last weekend.
He looked on track for the Golden Slipper after his excellent second place finish behind Artorius in the Blue Diamond Stakes, but he was never able to get into the race in the Pago Pago Stakes.
The Frosted colt was still able to run some of the best closing sectionals in the race and I am confident that he is a better horse than his last start effort suggests.

Anamoe

Anamoe will get a long way back in the run in the Golden Slipper, but he is another horse that I think may have been underrated by the market.
He found the line strongly to finish second behind Artorius in the Blue Diamond Stakes and he went on to upstage both Profiteer and Stay Inside in the Todman Stakes.
The wide barrier draw means that he will settle in the second half of the field, but that is his usual racing pattern and he is another horse that will be flying home late.

Home Affairs

Home Affairs has a genuine chance to deliver Chris Waller a maiden Golden Slipper win.
He scored a nice win over Rocket Tiger in the Silver Slipper Stakes and he back that up with an excellent performance behind Anamoe and Profiteer in the Todman Stakes.
That performance was particularly impressive, as he almost fell during the run, and he should get a lovely run in transit from barrier two.

Kalashnikov

Kalashnikov comes into the Golden Slipper on the back of a narrow win in the Black Opal.
The Black Opal generally isn’t the strongest form reference for the Golden Slipper and it is tough to see that changing in 2021.

Stay Inside

Stay Inside is one of the most interesting horses in the Golden Slipper field.
He started his racing career with two dominant wins and he had no luck in running whatsoever in the Todman Stakes.
Stay Inside is probably the toughest horse in this field to get a proper read on and I simply can’t get him as short as his current quote in a race of this quality.

Rocket Tiger

Rocket Tiger was narrowly beaten by Home Affairs in the Silver Slipper Stakes and finished third in the Black Opal.
The wide barrier draw does make things tough for him and Kathy O’Hara will likely have little choice, but to go forward on him.
He is one of the outsiders in this field for a reason.

O’president

O’president led from start to finish to win the Skyline Stakes and he is another horse that looks likely to go forward in the early stages of this contest.
The fact that he has performed well on a heavy track is a positive and he is a horse that still has plenty of upside.

Captivant

Captivant was comfortably beaten in both the Golden Gift and the Skyline Stakes.
You can never rule out Team Snowden in a big race for two-year-olds, but he would need to improve to be a genuine chance in this race.

Glistening

Glistening heads into the Golden Slipper on the back of a win in the Reisling Stakes, but she will still go into this contest at a big price of $71.
There are some genuine question marks over the quality of the form coming out of the Reisling Stakes this year, but she still has upside and $71 is a big price.

Four Moves Ahead

Four Moves Ahead will defend her unbeaten record in the Golden Slipper.
The way she put away her rivals on debut was impressive and she took advantage of a smart ride from Nash Rawiller to win the Sweet Embrace Stakes last start.
This is easily the toughest test of her racing career to date and it will be interesting to see how she measures up in this company.

Swift Witness

No trainer has a better record in the Golden Slipper than Gai Waterhouse and she has Swift Witness in the 2021 edition of the race.
She failed to fire as favourite in the Magic Millions Classic before she savaged the line to finish second behind Glistening in the Reisling Stakes.
It wouldn’t shock if she was in the race for a long way.

Mallory

Mallory has done nothing wrong during her racing career to date.
She chased home the gifted Enthaar in the Gimcrack Stakes and she won the Widden Stakes before she finished third behind Four Moves Ahead in the Sweet Embrace Stakes.
This is a step-up in quality again, but she should have every possible chance in the run.

Queen Of Wizardry

Queen Of Wizardry will go into the Golden Slipper first-up after finishing fourth behind Shaquero in the Magic Millions Classic.
History suggests that it is very tough to win the Golden Slipper first-up and I can’t see that changing, but she should run better than her current odds suggest.
