The Hobart Cup headlines racing around the country on Sunday and we take a look at each of the races on the quality day of racing and give our tips and bets including our selections in the Hobart Cup itself.

Race 1 – 12:00pm – Tasmanian Bloodstock Dash BM76 Handicap (1200m) AEDT
Michbar has been up for a while, but he’s really found some form recently winning two of his last three starts.
The Adam Trinder-trained four-year-old settled just behind the speed in his last start at Launceston and showed some real fight to fend off a late challenge once he took the lead 100m out from home.
He gets in light with the claim and tends to do his best work with a gap between runs. Should go well.
Race 2 – 12:35pm – Bec Thomas Mayor of Glenorchy Maiden (1400m) AEDT
This looks like Broadway Babe’s race to lose.
The Star Witness mare has returned a place in four of her last five starts and has rarely run a bad race at Hobart.
She made up a stack of ground from the tail to run a clear second over 1200m here a few weeks ago, and with improvement to come, she’ll be hard to hold out.
Race 3 – 1:10pm – Ladbrokes Fast Withdrawals Maiden (1400m) AEDT
Four Letter Word strips fitter for three runs back and looks poised to strike now.
Gary White’s lightly-raced filly filled the frame with a well-timed run over the track and trip two weeks ago and has drawn to get a similar run in transit from the wide gate.
She’s clearly got a turn of foot and her recent form reads better than most here.
Race 4 – 1:48pm – Silk Laser Clinics Maiden (1100m) AEDT
This does look a clear target race for I’m Krupt on the quick backup.
This three-year-old stuck on well to run a place at Launceston last week over further where he actually looked the winner just out from home.
The blinkers come off now for the first time and the wide draw should see him settling a little further back on this occasion.
Race 5 – 2:23pm – Madeleine Ogilvie Maiden/Class 1 (1600m) AEDT
Noztrabeel looks capable of going on with it now after bolting in to score at Launceston a few weeks ago over the mile.
The Brendan McShane-trained four-year-old should be plenty fit now for three runs back and I also like the fact he’s been kept for the run.
Barrier 5 should see him push forward and make his own luck on speed.
Race 6 – 3:00pm – Winning Edge Presentations Class 1 (1200m) AEDT
Gee Gee Raindrops won her maiden in impressive style here at Hobart last time out, making up a stack of ground from midfield to salute comfortably.
This is her toughest assignment yet, but from the draw, and with the claim put to good use, she does look a strong chance.
Race 7 – 3:40pm – The Mills New Norfolk Thomas Lyons Stakes (1400m) AEDT
Mandela Effect always gives an honest effort and this does set up nicely for him coming off a freshen-up.
Scott Brunton’s seven-year-old was seen doing his best work late for third in the Tasmanian Stakes last month over the mile, while he was also far from disgraced two back over 1400m at Launceston in the Conquering.
This trip is more his go, and the wide gate should suit his style of running. Also tends to run well fresh.
Race 8 – 4:20pm – Tas Insurance Brokers BM62 Handicap (1400m) AEDT
Magic Khan is deep into her prep now and can improve on his last start fourth over the same journey at Launceston on Australia Day.
Like always, the Dalakhani mare rolled forward that day and led for the majority before being swallowed up just out from the post.
She’ll likely get an easy time of it on-speed here, and with Bulent Muhcu having won her previously, the pair should take some catching.
Race 9 – 5:00pm – Ladbrokes Hobart Cup (2400m) AEDT
Quite like the price we’re getting here for the Bill Ryan-trained Sh’bourne Renegade.
This five-year-old son of Wordsmith has been a consistent customer over the last 12 months, particularly this time in work where he’s run no worse than fourth.
He comes out of the same race as most of the top chances at Hobart last month where he basically ran from last to fourth in very quick time.
Was luckless in this same race last year, but quickly atoned three weeks later when a nose second to Glass Warrior in the Launceston Cup. Has had two trials in between starts to keep him sharp and he’s looked very good in both.
Race 10 – 5:40pm – Unique Doors & Windows BM62 Handicap (2100m) AEDT
Costero is better than his last start suggests when 8 of 12 at Launceston over the same journey.
The son of Trusting found himself too far back and caught wide in the finish in what was a complete forgive run.
The start prior saw him finish a narrow runner-up over the track and distance, while his resume here at Hobart speaks for itself. Sigrid Carr takes over the reins once again and the pair should be arriving on the scene late.
