In the news:
Australia’s sole flag-bearer Linton has drawn barrier three for the Group One Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin on Sunday.
The Stradbroke Handicap winner will tackle 13 rivals, including high-class French mare Moonlight Cloud who finished a close second to champion Black Caviar at Royal Ascot.
Concerns about Linton not coping with the trip from Australia to Hong Kong eased earlier this week when he began to regain weight and his appetite.
He is the only Australian-trained horse competing at Sha Tin on Sunday.
Five internationals who contested Fiorente’s Melbourne Cup will clash again in the Hong Kong Vase with Simenon faring best at the draw.
He will jump from gate four, immediately inside Caulfield Cup runner-up Dandino with Mount Athos in barrier six.
Melbourne Cup runner-up Red Cadeaux has gate 11 in the field of 14 with Dunaden, who won the Vase two years ago, also drawn wide in stall 12.
