Horse Racing takes centre stages this christmas

Christmas racing is set to hit Sydney like never before following a stellar Spring Carnival season. Racing is well and truly back on the agenda in Sydney. A day or evening at the track teamed with a good dose of Christmas fun makes the perfect opportunity to entertain clients and catch up with friends in the lead up to and during Christmas.

Christmas racing kicks off at Royal Randwick with McGrath Estate Agents Twilight Racing on Friday 29 November (and a second twilight meeting on Friday 20 December) offering the perfect opportunity to ditch the pub and head to the track for Friday drinks. Racing will be teamed with live music, DJ’s, great food and entertainment making it the perfect social occasion for end of year catch up with work mates and friends.

The ATC’s Executive General Manager of Commercial and Sales Tony Partridge said the days were perfect for groups of business people who wanted to kick on and even better for those who wanted to start a late lunch at Royal Randwick.

“Hosting a group of people at the racecourse or ducking out in a cab after a CBD lunch is a great way to entertain and network in that Christmas type atmosphere.” Mr Partridge said.

Christmas comes early to Rosehill Gardens with Blackwoods Festival Stakes Day on Saturday 30 November, with the feature race an important lead up to the Group 2 Villiers Stakes. The day will be full of Christmas cheer with carollers, Christmas entertainment plus a visit from Santa making it the perfect day to entertain clients or friends.

Royal Randwick will also host the best of Christmas racing through December with Inglis Christmas Cup Day on Saturday 14 December featuring the Group 2 Villiers Stakes, a day bursting with Christmas cheer and entertainment.

On 30 November and 14 December race days the track will be play host to an on-track obstacle race, where five Santas chosen on track will be provided with Santa outfits to race for their chance to win $500.

The ever popular Boxing Day meeting on Thursday 26 December is Sydney’s ‘International Passport Day’, offering all international passport holders receive free entry to the track for an unsurpassable day of post-Christmas partying complete with a trackside DJ. For ATC Members, free family-friendly entertainment and children’s activities will be provided within the Members Area.

Canterbury Park will host the ATC’s Saturday meeting between Christmas and New Year on 28 December. It will be the perfect day out with the children with a special visit from Santa Claus and lots of family friendly entertainment with free children’s rides and activities, the perfect way to unwind between Christmas and the New Year.

Then racegoers are invited to welcome in the New Year on Wednesday 1 January at the Tattersalls Club Cup meeting. The famous cricket cheer squad – the Barmy Army – are set to descend on Royal Randwick ahead of the Sydney Ashes Test.
