The rain that fell at Sandown early on Wednesday was a blessing for the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young stable and their lightly raced three-year-old Immediacy .
Having only his second race start, Immediacy backed up a debut maiden win at Cranbourne with a more impressive victory in the Thoroughbred Club Australia Handicap (1800m).

While the contest may have been at benchmark 64 level, what appealed to Busuttin was the manner in which the three-year-old was able to dispose of Wednesday’s field.
“We were tossing up whether to put blinkers on him,” Busuttin said.
“We decided to leave them off and leave them for another start, but I suggest he will be getting them sooner, rather than later.
“Not many win a maiden and then go and win a 64, especially against the older horses. They may not be the gun horses, but they’re seasoned, tough ones, that have been around the block a bit.
“He’s very inexperienced and certainly has a lot of upside.”
Ridden by Luke Currie, Immediacy ($8.50) raced to a three-quarter length win from the $2.70 favourite Nishino Crescent with Tahlequah ($5.50) the same margin away third.
Immediacy was a $200,000 purchase as a two-year-old at the New Zealand Ready To Sales and was being prepared for a tilt at last year’s spring carnival.
But Busuttin said the gelding experienced growing pains and the stable was forced to back off the three-year-old.
However, the stable has not given up on potential Derby aspirations with the Australian Derby and the South Australian Derby in Sydney and Adelaide respectively likely to come under consideration.
“There is a long way to go to get there, but I think we will back off him now and maybe look to Sydney or Adelaide,” Busuttin said.
“I think we can give him a bit of a freshen up now and look to those races.
“We gave him the time in the spring and he’s alright now.
“He’s still a bit narrow and has some filling out to do, but he’s a nice horse.”
