Zac Purton is a clear second in the Hong Kong jockeys’ premiership following a winning treble at Happy Valley.

The Australian has ridden 32 winners this season, 11 of those during February.

His trio of victories on Wednesday came via Prince Of Sunshine, Mochi and Perfect Cheers.

“Before the barrier draws I thought I could ride four winners, but the draws ended that idea,” Purton told the South China Morning Post.

“So I was particularly pleased to get three.”

Douglas Whyte, an 11-time premiership winner, is the runaway leader of this season’s race for the jockeys’ title with 57 wins.
