The Group 1 $500,000 Inglis Sires’ over 1400m is the highlight for the two year olds on Day One of 2020 The Championships at Randwick on Saturday.
A field of fifteen will line up in the Inglis Sires’ with the Golden Slipper third placegetter Mamaragan the clear cut favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au.
Randwick trainers Peter and Paul Snowden will saddle up three runners, King’s Legacy, Aim and Bartley, while Gerald Ryan and the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable will both have multiple runners.
Mamaragan
The lightly raced Mamaragan has only been to the races on two occasions but has shown his class and ability with a third to Farnan in the Group 1 Golden Slipper over 1200m at Rosehill on March 21. The John Thompson trained colt has been installed as the Inglis Sires’ favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au and looks the one to beat.
Larimer Street
Victorian colt Larimer Street has shown he is above average with a last start win in the Listed Valley Pearl (1200m) at The Valley on March 20. The Brazen Beau juvenile will have no trouble with the step back up to the 1400m after finishing second over that distance in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Flemington on March 7 and has claims here.
Prague
The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained Prague is proving to be a tough youngster with three wins from five starts, including two at Group 3 level. The Redoubt’s Choice colt made up some ground from the back when sixth in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill and will be suited by the step up to the 1400m of the Inglis Sires’.
King’s Legacy
King’s Legacy is the first of the Peter and Paul Snowden trained trio to take their place in the Inglis Sires’. King’s Legacy has also had a tough campaign, which included a trip to Queensland for the Magic Millions Carnival in January, and place chances look best coming off a last start ninth in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill.
Glenfiddich
Victorian colt Glenfiddich will find this a much tougher assignment coming of a last start win in a 1500m 2yo Plate at the Mornington Metro meeting on March 21.
Holyfield
Holyfield made it three wins from four starts in winning the Group 3 Schweppervesence over 1400m at Rosehill Last Saturday but will find this a much tougher assignment.
Aim
Aim was the winner of his first two race starts and has been thereabouts at his last two starts with a third in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on February 29 followed by a fourth in the Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill. Wouldn’t surprise to see him figure amongst the prizemoney again.
Ole Kirk
Ole Kirk has only been to the races on two occasions and had plenty of support when sent out as the favourite when third in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes over 1400m at Flemington on March 7. Has potential and can be in the mix again.
Bartley
Bartley is another youngster from the Peter and Paul Snowden that is not the roughest. The Written Tycoon colt is coming off a second in the Group 3 Black Opal Stakes (1200m) at Canberra on March 8.
Return With Honour
The Gerald Ryan trained Return With Honour has to improve on his latest effort to be a threat following his ninth in the Group 3 Schweppervesence over 1400m at Rosehill Last Saturday.
Mission River
Mission River is another juvenile from the Gerald Ryan stable but has a lot of improvement to do before being considered here. The Redoute’s Choice colt is coming off a last start eighth in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on February 29.
Pioneer River
Victorian colt Pioneer River has shown glimpses of ability but will find this tougher than his last start third in the Listed Valley Pearl (1200m) at The Valley on March 20.
Cultural Amnesia
Cultural Amnesia is facing a huge step up in class coming straight off a Maiden win on the Kensington Track at Randwick.
Temple One
Temple One is still a Maiden and has been listed as the $201 outsider of the field with Ladbrokes.com.au.
Dismissal
Dismissal made up some ground from the back when seventh in the Group 3 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) but tougher here and is also at triple figure odds at Ladbrokes.com.au
Inglis Sires’ Tip
Ole Kirk at $9.00
