The field for Saturday’s The Everest is now set after Godolphin on Monday announced that Ingratiating would be its representative in Saturday’s $15 million event at Randwick.

Godolphin was the last of the 12 slot holders to announce its representative and went with the four-year-old son of Frosted, who on Saturday finished second to his James Cummings-trained stablemate Paulele.

That followed a first-up win at Caulfield on September 17 and was all the confirmation Sheikh Mohammed’s operation needed to see that he was worthy of a run in the1200-metre event.

“We’ve been absolutely delighted with the way the horse has come back this campaign (and) it was a very good run on Saturday behind Paulele in the Schillaci Stakes,” Godolphin Australia managing director Vin Cox said.

“He brilliantly won first up, he’s a horse that we’ve had absolute faith in, he was an elite two-year-old, winning his first start at Flemington brilliantly, (he was a) placegetter in the Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper Stakes and won the Vain Stakes as a three-year-old like he was Vain.

“We look forward to the week ahead with Ingratiating, he’s a very exciting horse by Frosted and we can’t wait for The Everest on Saturday.”

Ingratiating is a winner of four of 18 starts with his Blue Diamond second placing and Golden Slipper third among eight placings in a career that has generated more than $1.3 million in earnings.

Nature Strip, who will run in his trainer Chris Waller’s slot, is favourite to win The Everest for the second year running.
