Magic Millions Classic Tips, Field Preview and Selections – 2020

The Magic Millions Classic continues to grow in quality every single year and the 2020 edition of the race is packed full of quality.

Team Snowden have a very strong hand and they have the favourite with Aim, but there is plenty of quality in this field and there are a host of winning chances.

We have analysed every single horse in the field and our complete 2020 Magic Millions Classic tips can be found below.

King’s Legacy

Team Snowden is absolutely flying at the moment and King’s Legacy is one of a number of chances they have in the Magic Millions Classic. He chased home stablemate Aim on debut at Rosehill Gardens before he came out and recorded a very impressive victory in the BJ McLachlan at Eagle Farm last start. The Redoute’s Choice colt still has plenty of scope to improve and he will get a lovely run in transit with Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle.

Farnan

Farnan is the horse to beat in the Magic Millions Classic. He bolted in to win by five lengths on debut at Canberra and he proved that win was no fluke when he won the Wyong Magic Millions Classic. Tim Clark will be able to settle him just behind the speed during the early stages of the race and no horse will get a better run in transit. The Not A Single Doubt colt still has the scope to improve and that will make him tough to beat.

Rathlin

Rathlin has improved each time that he has been seen at the races. He was only fair on debut in the Maribyrnong Plate before he finished a close second in the Magic Millions Clockwise Classic and won the Phelan Ready Stakes in dominant fashion. I’m not sure either of those races will prove to be the strongest form lines, but he still does have the upside to improve.

Conceited

Conceited is a horse that I am willing to take on in the Magic Millions Classic at his current price. He found the line nicely at the Gold Coast on Saturday, but was still unable to run down Wisdom Of Water and this race is much tougher. The step-up to 1200 metres will suit, but he is still going to get a long way back in the run and will need to be very good.

Aim

Aim is one of the leading contenders in the Magic Millions Classic. The Star Witness colt comfortably beat King’s Legacy on debut and he could hardly have been more impressive when he bolted in to win by four lengths at Randwick last start. He is already a professional race horse and he might end up being the best horse in this field, but barrier two does concern me. Tommy Berry will have plenty of horses in front of him coming into the straight and he is going to need plenty of luck in running to win.

Wisdom Of Water

Wisdom Of Water earnt his place in the Magic Millions Classic with a narrow win over Conceited in the Aquis Gold Nugget at the Gold Coast on Saturday. This race is much stronger and I would be surprised if that form does stack up.

Nitrous

Nitrous is yet another Team Snowden contender in the Magic Millions Classic field. He hasn’t been as impressive as his stablemates in his three race starts to date, but he has recorded two wins on the trot and there is upside there. $26 does represent some value.

Kavak

Kavak has not missed the placings in either of his race starts after winning on debut and finishing second in his next two starts, including the Phelan Ready Plate. Rathlin did beat him handily in that contest and I’m not sure that he has the class to win a race of this quality.

Euphoric Summer

Euphoric Summer has shown plenty of ability in his three race starts. She finished second in the Debutant Stakes and improved on that performance to score a narrow victory in the Magic Millions Clockwise Classic. The Not A Single Doubt filly was not disgraced in the BJ McLachlan, but she would still need to improve to turn-the-tables on King’s Legacy and Every Rose.

Every Rose

Every Rose should ensure that there is plenty of speed in the Magic Millions Classic. She led from start to finish to take out the Gimcrack Stakes on debut before she finished second in both the Wyong Magic Millions Classic and the BJ McLachlan. There will be plenty of pressure in the early stages of this contest and I do have some concerns about her ability to run out a strong 1200 metres.

Gotta Kiss

Gotta Kiss stamped herself as a Magic Millions Classic with a smart win in the Basil Nolan Classic at Eagle Farm last start and she is one of the best of the local chances. In saying that, this is a step-up in quality again and I can’t get her as short as her current quote of $12.

Dusty Tycoon

Dusty Tycoon has recorded two wins from as many starts and is deserving of her chance in the Magic Millions Classic. This is a big step-up in class though and there is no doubt that she would need to hit a new peak to be a genuine winning chance.

Lady Banff

Lady Banff is the value runner in the Magic Millions Classic. She started her racing career with two impressive wins and she was very unlucky not to win the Basil Nolan Classic last start after being caught wide in the early stages. The step-up to 1200 metres probably isn’t ideal for her, but she does have speed to burn and the advantage of James McDonald in the saddle.

Away Game

Away Game was beaten on debut in the Merson Cooper Stakes before she proved far too classy for her rivals in the Calaway Gal. This is a tougher assignment, but she still has plenty of upside and she looks to have been forgotten by the market. She is a better chance than her odds of $26 suggest.

Stellar Pauline

Stellar Pauline comes into the Magic Millions Classic on the back of second place finishes behind Every Rose and Aim respectively in the Gimcrack Stakes and the Mode Handicap. She does have ability, but it is tough to see her turning-the-tables on Aim.

Smart ‘N’ Sexy

Smart ‘N’ Sexy snuck into the Magic Millions Classic field after stablemate Queen Kay did not accept for the race. She really should have won at the Gold Coast on Saturday and she was definitely her own worst enemy. The wide barrier draw doesn’t make her job any easier and she needs to improve her racing manners.

Bribery

Bribery is another galloper that comes out of the Aquis Gold Pearl and she did fine the line nicely in that contest. She is the first emergency and requires a scratching to earn a start in this field.

Way Beyond

Way Beyond is the second emergency in the Magic Millions Classic field. This race does look beyond her.

The Drinks Cart

The Drinks Car is the third emergency for the Magic Millions Classic and is unlikely to earn a race start.

Cosmic Gossip

Cosmic Gossip is the fourth emergency in the Magic Millions Classic field.

Poupee

Poupee requires five scratchings to earn a start in the Magic Millions Classic.
