Majestic Shot on target ahead of 2021 Denise’s Joy Stakes

Up-and-coming star Majestic Shot will have her first look at black type company as she lines up in the Listed Denise’s Joy Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

The three-year-old had the racing fraternity talking after demolishing her rivals in her first four career starts.

Her undefeated run came to an end last start though, finishing fourth at Hawkesbury, beaten just over a length.

Her trainer Grant Allard is hoping the daughter of Shooting To Win can bounce back this weekend.

“I think she lost a bit of confidence, she had a massive weight, things just didn’t pan out and everything went wrong,” he said.

“But I think on the line she was hitting the line as good as anything at the finish.

“It certainly didn’t go to plan and it was a combination of things, we can’t blame anything in particular and hopefully we can bounce back from that.”

Majestic Shot is coming off a four-week break since her last run, a recipe that has been used to good effect throughout her career.

Allard says this race has been his target, and the break between runs will bring out the best in the three-year-old.

“This has always been the race on the radar. Her other wins have been pretty well spaced last preparation and I think she’s best fresh,” he said.

“She’s always shown ability, with horses like her, we more or less found a target and say ‘this is where we’ll work towards and we’ll fill in the gaps and if we get there, we get there’.

“Four weeks between runs, I don’t think it’ll hurt her.

“She had her last gallop yesterday (Monday) and she’ll just poke away for the rest of the week, keep her happy and with a spring in her step until the weekend.”

Allard will wait to see how Majestic Shot pulls up after her run on Saturday before deciding what’s next for the future star.
