The Melbourne Cup is the obvious highlight, but there are a host of other races on the card and there is plenty of value to be found.

We have analysed every single horse in every race and our complete 2021 Melbourne Cup Day tips can be found below!

Race 1 – 10:45am – Group 3 Darley Maribyrnong Plate (1000m)

This is a tricky way to start the day as the majority of the horses in this field will be making their racing debuts.

I think that the horses that have previously been to the races have an advantage and the value runner looks like Lascars.

It took him a while to wind-up in the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes, but he ended up finding the line nicely and he ran some of the fastest closing sectionals in the race.

There are plenty of unknowns in this contest, but I’m happy to have a gamble on Lascars at the current quote.

Race 2 – 11:20am – The Macca’s Run (2800m)

Savvy Valentino is outstanding value in what is an open edition of The Macca’s Run.

He started his campaign with a couple of impressive wins and he has gone on to run well without winning in both the St Leger Stakes and the Tattersalls Cup in Sydney.

There is no fitter horse in this field and he maps to get a dream run in transit with Rachel King in the saddle.

Race 3 – 12:00pm – Subzero Handicap (1400m)

This is good placement from Shea Eden and Housay does look to have a clear class edge over the rest of this field.

He went to another level at the end of his last campaign and the scary thing for his rivals is that he still has the scope to improve.

Barrier six is ideal and he will have every possible chance in the run with Jye McNeil in the saddle.

Race 4 – 12:40pm – Furphy Plate (1800m)

This is another very tricky betting race and there are a host of winning chances.

Milton Park is in outstanding form and he is good value at $8.50.

He has really raised the bar this campaign and he produced a career best performance to win the Ladbrokes Sale Cup last start.

There isn’t a huge amount of speed in this race and Jarrod Fry should be able to take him straight to the front in the early stages of this race.

He will give his rivals something to chase.

Race 5 – 1:20pm – Grinders Coffee Roasters Trophy (1400m)

Lackeen has only recorded the one race win, but I am confident that he is a better horse than his current record suggests.

He performed well in stronger races than this one last campaign and I think that he has the upside to go to another level this preparation.

The Shamardal gelding has trialed nicely ahead of his return to the races and he will have every possible chance from barrier one with Damien Oliver in the saddle.

Race 6 – 1:55pm – The Schweppervescence Plate (1000m)

The market suggests that this is a race in two between Enthaar and Profiteer.

Profiteer has looked a touch disappointing in his two race starts this campaign and I think that Enthaar might just have more upside.

Her two wins over 1000 metres as a two-year-old were outstanding and she wasn’t disgrace when sixth in the Blue Diamond Stakes.

The Flemington straight is the unknown, but I am confident that she has the upside to be better than Profiteer.

Race 7 – 3:00pm – Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m)

Incentivise is well and truly deserving of his status as a dominant favourite in Melbourne Cup betting.

He has done nothing wrong during his Spring Racing Carnival campaign and the scary thing for his rivals is that he continues to improve.

Incentivise showed his class with his first-up win in the Makybe Diva Stakes and proved that was no fluke with his tough effort in the Turnbull Stakes.

It is hard to put into words how impressive his Caulfield Cup victory was.

Brett Prebble ride him like the best horse in the race and the ease of his win was nothing short of arrogant.

He was running away from his rivals late and there is nothing to suggest that he won’t run out a strong 3200 metres.

I’ve never been more confident heading into a Melbourne Cup and he can become the first horse since Ethereal in 2001 to complete the Caulfield/Melbourne Cup.

Race 8 – 4:00pm – Group 3 The Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (1400m)

La Mexicana has an excellent chance to return to winning form in The Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes and she is outstanding value at her current quote of $9.50.

She hasn’t won a race this campaign, but this is a genuine drop in class.

The I Am Invincible mare was never able to get into the race in the Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes, but before that she wasn’t beaten far in the Regal Roller Stakes, How Now Stakes and Northwood Plume Stakes.

I think that the step-up to 1400 metres is ideal for her at this stage of her campaign and I am happy to back the best horse in the race.

Race 9 – 4:40pm – Listed TAB Trophy (1800m)

This is one of the most open races of the day and you can make a case for a number of horses in this field.

Zoumon is a lightly-raced galloper that still has plenty of upside and he is well and truly over the odds at his current quote of $12.

He has scored two wins from his three race starts and he never gave his rivals a chance when he scored a strong win at Moe last start.

Glen Boss can roll forward on him in the early stages of this contest and he will give his rivals something to catch.

Race 10 – 5:15pm – Listed MSS Security Sprint (1200m)

It has been a while between race wins for Prime Candidate, but this looks like a nice race for the Denman gelding.

He started his campaign with a credible third place finish behind Big Parade at Randwick and he chased home the same horse to finish third in the Sydney Stakes.

This is his first time down the Flemington straight, but the fact that he makes his own luck right on the speed is a genuine positive.
