Race 1 – 5:15pm – Maiden Plate (1000m)

Heardyou is making her racing debut in the first of the evening at The Valley and while we don’t have a lot of exposed form to dissect in the race, there has been good early support for the well bred filly.

She should get a nice run in transit from barrier three and hopefully we can ick start the evening on a winning note.

Race 2 – 5:45pm – Maiden Plate (1200m)

Peter Moody will saddle up Daytona Bay for the first time on Friday night at The Valley.

The son of American Pharoah has not been seen at the trials leading into his racing debut but there has been good early support in betting.

Barrier three is a plus.

Race 3 – 6:15pm – Benchmark 70 Handicap (3000m)

I couldn’t have been more impressed with Guns Ablazing two weeks ago when he won here at The Valley over 3000m.

He settled beautifully during the run, tucked away with cover and Ollie found a run at the perfect time when rounding the turn.

He sustained a long run that night and had them covered at the 300m. He’s being asked to carry more weight now in this event but it really doesn’t look any harder than a fortnight ago and is clearly the one to beat.

Race 4 – 6:45pm – Class 1 Handicap (1600m)

Bring The Stars is a young horse racing in consistent fashion right at the minute having finished in the top two in his last four straight races.

This includes an impressive second last start at The Valley, beaten 1.5 lengths behind the smart Burning Power over 2040m.

There will no query on his fitness after a long campaign and he represents good value at his current price.

Race 5 – 7:15pm – Benchmark 64 Handicap (1600m)

The Mick Price and Michael Kent junior trained Spooning looks well placed here in the fifth event of the evening.

The four year old mare has had just the six starts in her short career but has proven she has a fair amount of ability.

She won her maiden at Pakenham by four lengths at her second start before finishing third in the Listed Adelaide Guineas during her last prep.

She was beaten just two lengths when resuming at Sandown two weeks ago and she will take plenty of benefit out of that run.

Race 6 – 7:45pm – Benchmark 64 Handicap (955m)

Not a lot went right for El Salto in the short Valley straight over the short course two weeks ago and he was cramped fr room at a vital stage in the race.

He burst through when given clear running to savage the line late and we are getting nice double figure odds for him in a similar class of race.

Race 7 – 8:15pm – Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200m)

Fudging is only a lightly raced five year old gelding with 11 career race starts but he has three wins to his name in that time.

Both his runs so far this prep have been at The Valley and both have been full of merit.

His latest effort was a fifth over 1200m two weeks ago, where he was beaten just over a length and a half.

He was forced to do some work in the early part of that race to get the lead.

If he can get a softer time of it in front, he will be in this for a long way.

Race 8 – 8:45pm – Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200m)

Wegobam finished third when resuming at Warrnambool first up before she finished within a length of Rose Quartz at Flemington at her next run.

She has been placed in six of 12 career starts to date including two wins and she will be ready to peak at her third run in this prep now.
