We continue to gear up for the Perth Summer Carnival at Ascot on Saturday, and two Group 3 features headline the program.
You can find my complete 2023 Prince Of Wales Stakes Day Tips below.
Westspeed Platinum Handicap (1600m) – 3:24pm AEDT
Belgrano Belle has returned to the races in sharp form and strikes another winnable race at Ascot on Saturday.
The Rogano mare returned a winner in Class 3 company at Northam at the beginning of October, and after filling the minors at her second appearance, she bounced back at her latest.
Willie Pike retains the ride, and the mile looks ideal at this point of her preparation.
Suggested Bet: No. 2 Belgrano Belle
Amelia Park Handicap (1500m) – 4:04pm AEDT
It could be a big Saturday on both coasts for the Simon Miller stable, and Malkar Pindari looks a winning chance in Race 2 at Ascot.
Malkar Pindari is yet to miss placing in five starts back from a break, recording consecutive wins at Belmont two and three runs back before only just missing behind Laquetta’s Gift here a fortnight ago.
She meets that horse slightly better at the weights this week, and in peak order, I think she’ll bounce back.
Suggested Bet: No. 6 Malkar Pindari
Placid Ark Prelude (1000m) – 4:49pm AEDT
Oscar’s Fortune puts an unbeaten record on the line and looms as the one to beat again in the Placid Ark Prelude.
The Rich Enuff gelding stamped himself as one to watch by winning easily on debut at Belmont back in August, and he has since recorded similarly impressive victories in tougher Saturday races.
Pike keeps the ride on this galloper as well, and that alone gives further confidence to his chances of success.
Suggested Bet: No. 1 Oscar’s Fortune
Mrs Mac’s Handicap (1000m) – 5:24pm AEDT
Scenic Eclipse takes winning form into this contest and rates as a key winning chance again.
The Mahuta mare has been a model of consistency throughout the last few months, and she was rewarded with her triumph over this route in October.
She’s hard fit and with even luck, I can’t find a reason why she won’t be in the finish again.
Suggested Bet: No. 5 Scenic Eclipse
Penang Turf Club Trophy (1000m) – 6:05pm AEDT
Metallon hasn’t been seen at the races since March, but he boasts a strong fresh record, and I thought that this looked a lovely launchpad.
The Oratorio gelding returned a winner of a similar race here back in January, in what was easily the best performance of that campaign.
An ideal draw and the booking of Pike are also big ticks here.
Suggested Bet: No. 9 Metallon
Selangor Turf Club Trophy (1200m) – 6:45pm AEDT
Another galloper resuming on Prince Of Wales Stakes Day that look to have genuine winning claims is Snow Prince.
Snow Prince returned to action with a nice performance for second, beaten less than half a length over 1000m at Belmont back in August and was last seen finishing credible fourth in a 1200m dash two months ago.
He’s had a trial leading up to Saturday’s return and should receive every chance from an inside draw.
Suggested Bet: No. 8 Snow Prince
Group 3 Prince Of Wales Stakes (1000m) – 7:20pm AEDT
Red Can Man returned a winner in Listed company here a couple of weeks ago, and I’m only expecting improvement when he steps out in the Prince Of Wales Stakes on Saturday.
The veteran sprinter has been a good horse for Steve Wolfe for a few seasons now, and he has picked off feature races both in Western Australia and Victoria.
I thought that his fresh effort was one of his best for quite some time, and with the added fitness this week, I think he’s going to win again.
Suggested Bet: No. 1 Red Can Man
Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes (1400m) – 7:57pm AEDT
Alsephina has hardly put a hoof wrong since debuting, and she can make a winning return to the races in the Asian Beau Stakes.
The Star Turn mare has won nine of the eleven starts to date, placing on both other occasions and finding form around some quality opposition.
She has been set some lofty targets this time in, and she can kick off her preparation in the best way possible this week.
Suggested Bet: No. 7 Alsephina
Quayclean Handicap (1400m) – 8:37pm AEDT
Brooklyn Pier returned a winner over 1200m here at Ascot a fortnight ago, and this looks a great opportunity for him to make it two.
The Magnus gelding has been a great horse for Neville Parnham since debuting, and while he didn’t manage to record a win last time in, he raced well around some capable types.
With any improvement from that fresh win, he’ll be right in the finish again.
Suggested Bet: No. 9 Brooklyn Pier
