Trained by Anthony Freedman, multiple Group One winner Santa Ana Lane has drawn barrier five for Saturday’s $2 million weight-for-age VRC Sprint Classic over the straight 1200m at Flemington.
Santa Ana Lane is coming off a last-start second to three-year-old Yes Yes Yes in the $14 million Everest in Sydney.
Everest fourth placegetter Nature Strip is also in Saturday’s field and has barrier nine while New Zealand sprinter The Bostonian has barrier one.
Three-year-old filly Loving Gaby has barrier three for her attempt to beat the older horses in a Group One weight-for-age sprint for the second time after her last-start victory in the Manikato Stakes at The Valley.
