Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick Tips, Race Previews and Selections – 8/4/2023

The Queen Elizabeth Stakes is the jewel in the crown of The Championships, and $5 million goes on the line at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Since it became one of the most lucrative races on the Australian thoroughbred calendar, Queen Elizabeth Stakes winners include Winx (x3), Addeybb (x2) and Criterion, and another outstanding field will seek to join that list this week.

You can find my 2023 Queen Elizabeth Stakes Tips below.

Queen Elizabeth Stakes – Winner

This will almost certainly be the final time that we see him on the track and I have been with him right the way through, so of course I have Anamoe on top of my Queen Elizabeth Stakes Tips.

Fourteen wins, seven placings from twenty-four career starts is how Anamoe’s CV reads prior to the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, highlighted by a Cox Plate and many other Group 1 prizes.

He’s three from three this time in, obviously James McDonald stays in the saddle, the horse is rock-hard fit and Anamoe can be crowned the Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner.

Suggested Bet: No. 1 Anamoe

Queen Elizabeth Stakes – 2nd

Great name, better horse.

Unicorn Lion flies the flag for Japan in the 2023 Queen Elizabeth Stakes field, and he has understandably received some early interest in betting.

The No Nay Never entire has won six of his twenty-six career starts, finding form around some excellent horses in his homeland and laying a great account for himself in some of Japan’s best races.

He has made just one appearance at the races this year, a credible sixth in the Group 2 Kyoto Kinen back in February, but he is a multiple fresh winner.

Damian Lane’s recent record on Japanese raiders is excellent, and he takes the ride on this bloke.

Suggested Bet: No. 7 Unicorn Lion

Queen Elizabeth Stakes – 3rd

I’m sure plenty of people will pot me for having this horse running third after that win in the Ranvet Stakes, but I do think that Dubai Honour will need to go to another level to win the Queen Elizabeth.

The Pride Of Dubai gelding has been a good horse over the UK since making his debut, picking off some lovely contests and contesting some strong form races.

There is no doubt that the best performance of his career was produced at Rosehill three weeks ago, however, and he greeted the judge nearly five lengths ahead of his rivals.

The big difference this week is that Ryan Moore jumps out of the saddle, and while I do rate Tom Marquand, I think the two above might have his measure.

Suggested Bet: No. 2 Dubai Honour

Queen Elizabeth Stakes – 4th

One of only two mares in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes field, Montefilia only just missed in the Tancred Stakes last time out, and I think she can return another bold effort dropping back to the 2000m in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Montefilia is a multiple Group 1 winner in her own right, and she has returned in typically smart for this time, having also finished second behind Dubai Honour in the Ranvet.

She’s rock-hard fit, and I am confident that she’ll return her usual honest effort.

Suggested Bet: No. 12 Montefilia
