Queen Of The Turf Stakes at Randwick Tips, Race Previews and Selections – 8/4/2023

The Queen Of The Turf Stakes has a habit of being one of the most open Group 1 feature races of the Autumn Carnival, and some of the best fillies and mares in Australasia will step out on Day 2 of The Championships.

Multiple Northern Hemisphere Group 1 winner Alcohol Free will make her eagerly awaited Australian debut in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes, but she will need to hit the ground running if she is to knock off some of these rivals!

You can find my complete 2023 Queen Of The Turf Stakes Tips below.

Suggested Bets

Queen Of The Turf Stakes – Winner

I’m taking on the early favourite in Queen Of The Turf Stakes betting with one that rarely returns a poor effort; Hope In Your Heart.

The form around Hope In Your Heart throughout the last season has been excellent; she won a couple of Group 3 races in spring before finishing fourth in The Golden Eagle most notably, while she resumed this time for an eye-catching win in the Guy Walter Stakes.

Her last two starts have heralded fourth placings in both the Coolmore Classic and last weekend’s Doncaster Mile.

She steps out this week in peak order, is drawn ideally under Timmy Clark and looks a touch of overs in my opinion at around the $10 mark in Queen Of The Turf betting.

Suggested Bet: No. 5 Hope In Your Heart

Queen Of The Turf Stakes – 2nd

If she brings her best, Alcohol Free will be right in the finish of the Queen Of The Turf, and a recent trial does add some confidence in her chances.

The daughter of No Nay Never has amassed six wins from her fifteen career starts to date, placing a further four times and finding form around some very talented opposition.

She is a four-time Group 1 winner, which included a smart triumph over the likes of Artorius in last year’s July Cup at Newmarket, and James McDonald obviously boosts her chances of winning this weekend as well.

Suggested Bet: No. 1 Alcohol Free

Queen Of The Turf Stakes – 3rd

Levante has stamped herself as one of the best horses in New Zealand, and she too can fight out the finish of the Queen Of The Turf Stakes.

Levante has hardly put a hoof wrong throughout her twenty-two career starts, winning twelve times and placing on another five occasions, winning four Group 1s.

She was fifth, beaten less than a length by Anamoe in the George Ryder on debut in Australia, and I am expecting improvement on that effort, while a return to fillies and mares’ company will also suit.

Suggested Bet: No. 3 Levante

Queen Of The Turf Stakes – 4th

Her winning chances took a hit when she was allocated barrier 18, but Roots has been good this time in, and I think that she can still lay a good account for herself in the Queen Of The Turf.

The Press Statement mare stripped fitter with a couple of competitive efforts first and second-up, and she mustered an eye-catching turn of foot to win the Emancipation Stakes pretty comfortably a fortnight ago.

Avdulla rides, that is a tick, and Roots does look to have the talent to compete at this level.

Suggested Bet: No. 9 Roots
