Trainer Peter Snowden is looking at weight-for-age targets for Group One winner Epaulette who will miss the early part of the Sydney autumn carnival.

The Golden Rose winner and Caulfield Guineas placegetter had an early campaign setback which put him behind schedule for his return.

Snowden has already ruled out next month’s Group One Randwick Guineas and is now eyeing the Group One TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) and Group One All Aged Stakes (1400m) for the three-year-old.

“He’s probably about two to three weeks off a trial and we’ll see how he trials as to whether he needs one or two trials,” Snowden said.

“Then we’ll see what we’ve got lined up but he’ll be later in the program. He’ll be TJ Smith and All Aged Stakes, that sort of thing.”

Snowden was a long-time foreman to trainer John Hawkes who has had a long and successful history running three-year-olds against older horses in weight-for-age races.

Hawkes gave another demonstration on Saturday when All Too Hard won the Group One C F Orr Stakes at Caulfield and Happy Galaxy claimed the Group Two Expressway Stakes in Sydney.

Snowden has been the head trainer at Crown Lodge since late 2007.

Star colt Sepoy was successful at weight-for-age for Snowden when he took out the 2011 Manikato Stakes as a three-year-old.

The Group One TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) is at Randwick on April 13 while the All Aged Stakes (1400m) is two weeks later.

The Darley team, meanwhile, has settled on its Blue Diamond Stakes 2013 runners with the Snowden-trained Guelph, Metastasio and Montsegur set to take aim in the $1 million juvenile feature at Caulfield on Saturday week.

Kuroshio, winner of the colts and geldings Prelude on Saturday, will not run in the Blue Diamond.
