Randwick Guineas at Randwick Tips, Race Previews and Selections – 4/3/2023

Some of the best three-year-old from Sydney and beyond will step out in Saturday’s Randwick Guineas, and it looms as another classic renewal of the Group 1 feature.

Dundeel, Dissident, Hallowed Crown and The Autumn Sun are but a few of the names of recent Randwick Guineas winners, and it truly has become a key stallion-making event.

I’ve run the rule over this year’s crop, and you can find my complete 2023 Randwick Guineas Tips below.

Suggested Bets

Randwick Guineas – Winner

I’m very confident that Aft Cabin can bounce back from his shock defeat in the Hobartville and win the Randwick Guineas.

The Astern colt was nothing short of outstanding during his debut preparation in spring, winning the Neds Guineas Prelude most notably, finding form around the likes of Jacquinot, and he was unlucky to have been forced back into the paddock with injury prior to running in the Neds Caulfield Guineas.

He won the Eskimo Prince Stakes easily first-up this time, and endured a luckless and tough run last time out.

Fitter third-up and out to the mile, this is his chance to secure a Group 1.

Suggested Bet: No. 3 Aft Cabin

Randwick Guineas – 2nd

The one that I do think can give Aft Cabin a run for his money under the conditions of the Randwick Guineas in Zou Tiger.

Zou Tiger has always hinted at top-line ability, and he proved that he was up to the class with an impressive performance for third in the Golden Rose back in September.

He has so far finished second in each of the Eskimo Prince Stakes and the Hobartville this time in, and he is drawn to receive a lovely run this week under Brenton Avdulla.

Suggested Bet: No. 4 Zou Tiger

Randwick Guineas – 3rd

I am convinced that Communist is a good horse and if he runs up to his ability, I think he’s overs in Randwick Guineas betting ($16 at publish).

Communist was a strong and consistent performer throughout his 2022 campaign, recording three wins and as many placings from seven starts, and finding form around some excellent gallopers.

He hit the line well to fill the minors in the Eskimo Prince first-up from a spell but was a little flat in the Hobartville Stakes last time out.

Fitter third-up and with better luck, I think he can atone this week.

Suggested Bet: No. 8 Communist

Randwick Guineas – 4th

Osipenko was the shock winner of the Hobartville Stakes last time out, and while I’m sure that wasn’t just a flash in the pan, I do think a couple of these rivals will prove too sharp for him this time.

Osipenko ended his 2022 campaign third in the Neds Caulfield Guineas, and improved noticeably to score second-up from a spell a fortnight ago.

Fitter third-up and from the good draw, I don’t see any reason why he won’t be in the finish again on Saturday.

Suggested Bet: No. 2 Osipenko
