The Ranvet Stakes has always been a great race, but in the last five or so years, it has arguably gone to another level.
As purses have increased, international stables have slowly began sending teams of horses for Autumn Carnival raids, and the Ranvet Stakes has become a staple for many of them.
With many of Australasia’s best horses also accepting, it’s fair to say that it’s usually one of the best feature races on the calendar, and you can find my 2023 Ranvet Stakes Tips below!
Suggested Bets
- 3 Units straight out #1 Gold Trip
- Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
Ranvet Stakes – Winner
Melbourne Cup winner Gold Trip couldn’t have done a lot more without winning the Peter Young Stakes first-up this time, and he can record another Group 1 victory in the Ranvet Stakes
The Outstrip entire continued to improve with each start and as the bar was raised during his debut Australian prep last year, and finished a head second in the Caulfield Cup, before giving them a galloping lesson in the Race That Stops a Nation.
He fresh effort this time suggested he might have actually returned a better horse, and any improvement would find him extremely difficult to beat in something like this.
Suggested Bet: No. 1 Gold Trip
Ranvet Stakes – 2nd
William Haggas has sent Dubai Honour to Australia this season, and he’ll make his first appearance in the Ranvet Stakes field.
Dubai Honour has recorded four wins and as many second placings from his fifteen career starts, and while he hasn’t greeted the judge for more than a year, he has raced consistently around some of the best gallopers on the planet.
His best form certainly puts him into the finish of a race like the Ranvet Stakes, and he’ll be given every chance by Ryan Moore.
Suggested Bet: No. 3 Dubai Honour
Ranvet Stakes – 3rd
She didn’t enjoy the best of luck in last weekend’s Coolmore Classic, but I like that Hinged is on the short back-up, and getting out to 2000m should also prove beneficial for her.
The Worthy Cause mare returned with a handy effort to finish second, beaten less than a length by Anamoe in the Apollo Stakes last month, before finishing midfield in the Chipping Norton at her only other appearance.
She steps out this week in peak order, James McDonald retains the ride and has options from the rails draw.
Suggested Bet: No. 8 Hinged
Ranvet Stakes – 4th
I am still a fan of Mo’unga, but it has just been too long since he last won for me to hold any real confidence in what he is going to do in the Ranvet Stakes.
The two-time Group 1 winner has still been competitive in some of Australasia’s biggest races during recent seasons, and he has improved for two starts back this time, filling the minors in the Chipping Norton most recently.
He won the Rosehill Guineas at this meeting two years ago, and that does add some confidence to his chances this week!
Suggested Bet: No. 2 Mo’unga
