Rosehill Tips, Race Previews and Selections – 16/7/2022

We have 10 races to look forward to at Rosehill this weekend with plenty of opportunities to build a bank.

Our full Rosehill, Saturday 16th July, Day Preview can be found below.

Preview brought to you by Ladbrokes. Learn more about Ladbrokes HERE.

Race 1 – 2YO Handicap (1400m)

Alberich could not have been much more impressive when winning on debut at Canterbury by over two lengths.

The son of Snitzel sat just off the speed in that race and got through the heavy going well.

The step up to 1400m suits, as will the appointment of William Pike.

Bet Now: Alberich

Race 2 – Highway Handicap (1200m)

Lightly raced grey gelding Sir Ravanelli put together two wins in a row at Grafton and Port Macquarie before finishing fourth in a Highway race at Randwick last start.

He sat on the speed in that race and while he did not see out 1400m, he kept trying right through the line.

The step back to 1200m will suit and he has drawn to get a nice run in transit again from barrier two.

Bet Now: Sir Ravanelli

Race 3 – Benchmark 72 Handicap (1200m)

Pretty Wild made her racing debut with a dominant 2.7 length win at Warwick Farm on a heavy track at the start of June.

The daughter of Brazen Beau was then narrowly defeated at Randwick last time out where she found trouble at a vital stage.

Back to 1200m and drawn well in barrier four with Tommy Berry steering.

Bet Now: Pretty Wild

Race 4 – Benchmark 72 Handicap (1200m)

Air Of Alsace has been a consistent performer throughout her short racing career to date having placed in all but one of her six starts.

The lightly raced four year old mare was narrowly denied when resuming in a Midway Handicap two weeks ago but this race doesn’t look much harder.

Jason Coyle usually has some success around this time of the year off carnival and she represents good each way value.

Bet Now: Air Of Alsace

Race 5 – Benchmark 88 Handicap (1800m)

Lord Ardmore is a very progressive type of horse who has been placed in his last five in a row.

This includes a nice effort behind Coal Crusher first up when beaten by just under two lengths.

The son of Reliable Man has one win from two attempts second up and the sharp step up in distance will only suit.

Bet Now: Lord Ardmore

Race 6 – Benchmark 78 Handicap (1500m)

Alcyone will be asked to carry the big weight first up from a spell but the four year old gelding has performed well well fresh in the past.

This is short of his preferred distance, but he has a class edge on this field and he looks well placed in this event.

Bet Now: Alcyone

Race 7 – Benchmark 88 Handicap (1400m)

The seventh race of the afternoon at Rosehill is a very competitive event with a few winning chances.

Irish Legend returned from a spell with a credible third at this track and he drops considerably in weight for this assignment.

Kerrin Mcevoy steers from the inside draw and with a bit of luck in running he will go close.

Bet Now: Irish legend

Race 8 – Benchmark 78 Handicap (1800m)

Philipsburg has been racing consistently right throughout this prep and he contests a very similar grade of race as he did last weekend at Randwick.

He finished third in that race on a heavy track and he will bring in a fitness edge on a lot of these runners.

Represents good each way value again.

Bet Now: Philipsburg

Race 9 – Benchmark 78 Handicap (1400m)

Tawfiq Lass broke through for a much deserved win at Canterbury last time out when scoring by almost two lengths.

That win was on the heavy track which she seems to thrive in and the $17 on offer at time of publish is overs.

Annabel Neasham has a handy import in Lolly Yeats in this race and the filly broke through for an impressive win at Kembla Grange at just her second Australian start last month.

This is another step up in grade but she’s worth a small each way play as well.

Bet Now: Tawfiq Lass

Race 10 – Benchmark 78 Handicap (1100m)

Snowzone has finished inside the top four in all six starts so far this prep which includes a win at Grafton back in April.

The son of Snitzel has had his runs spaced throughout this prep but he is now on the seven day back up after running second at Randwick last Saturday.

The apprentice will give some weight relief.

Bet Now: Snowzone
