Home Affairs has been ruled out of the Sydney Autumn Carnival with tightness across his back and hindquarter.

A campaign in the Northern Hemisphere has become the focus for the Chris Waller-trained Home Affairs who will miss the Sydney Autumn Carnival.

Waller issued a statement on Tuesday explaining Home Affairs was still experiencing some tightness across his back and hindquarters.

Home Affairs, a narrow winner of the Group 1 Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington last month, went on to finish ninth to Roch ‘N’ Horse in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on March 12.

Waller said Home Affairs had pulled up bright and well from that Newmarket Handicap performance despite suffering the tightness issues.

“We have therefore made the decision that rather than running in the (Group 1) T J Smith, he will have a quiet time over the next two weeks while we concentrate on a Northern Hemisphere campaign including Royal Ascot,” Waller said.

The Royal Ascot meeting in June could see a number of Australian sprinters targeted at Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes (1000m) on June 14 and the Group 1 Platinum Jubilee (1200m) on June 18.

Besides Home Affairs, his Waller-trained stablemate Nature Strip has been earmarked for the meeting while on Monday it was announced the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained three-year-old Artorius would be UK bound.
