Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan has declared Samaready a massive risk in Saturday’s Golden Slipper and has vowed to take the filly on.
Sullivan said there was a lot against the Blue Diamond Stakes winner and he had wound her out to $2.70 after she drew awkwardly in barrier eleven,
“We had wound her into $2.50 following the withdrawal of All Too Hard but she will need luck from the gate and I am very keen to stand her for plenty,” Sullivan said.
“Samaready has been up a long time now and if you leave Sepoy out, Blue Diamond winners have a horrible record of being able to repeat the performance in the Slipper.
“There has been no money for her since the barrier draw and while we are top odds now at $2.70, we still can’t write a ticket.”
Sullivan said there had been money for a number of other runners with the Gai Waterhouse pair of Raceway and No Looking Back the best supported.
“We took a bet of $3000 at $15 on Raceway as soon as we went back up and there has been a couple of good bets on No Looking Back and some good interest in Pierro too,” he said.
“We have also posted a market on whether Gai will win the Slipper again and I am sure the $2.35 about her winning another will be popular given the early money for her horses and her record in the race.”
