Race 1 – 3:40pm AEDT – Ladbroke It! Handicap (1000m)

Matsukaze finished midfield on debut at the Yarra Valley, but he has been freshened since that contest, and I am confident he’ll enjoy plenty of improvement for the experience.

The three-year-old son of Maurice raced greenly, but he did finish off his only race start well.

We can have something small on this week.

Race 2 – 4:15pm AEDT – Ladbrokes Mega Multi Plate (1500m)

He didn’t show a lot at his first start back this time, but this is a decent drop in class for Prix De Turn, and I am confident that he can break his maiden.

The Turn Me Loose colt hinted at ability on debut in the spring, and only just missed here at Ladbrokes Park before running a credible seventh in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas.

He’d had enough by the time that he stepped out in the Carbine Club Stakes, and improvement would be required from his first-up run in the Autumn Stakes, but these do look like ideal conditions for him.

Race 3 – 4:50pm AEDT – Tile Importer Handicap (2400m)

I’m going to give Spirit Of Gold another chance to win at Ladbrokes Park on Wednesday.

Spirit Of Gold recorded consecutive wins at Cranbourne and Mornington in December, and she has been far from disgraced in three tougher assignments in town recently, including last Friday’s Torney Night Cup.

She’s rock-hard fit, will eat up the mile and a half and the booking of Jamie Kah certainly doesn’t hinder her chances.

Race 4 – 5:25pm AEDT – Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap (1000m)

Fire hasn’t been seen at the races since September, but he showed promise during his last prep, and he can make a winning return at Ladbrokes Park this week.

The Team Hawkes-trained galloper placed in maiden company at Randwick-Kensington when resuming last time and franked the effort with a lovely win at Bendigo second-up.

This is a drop in class from his most-recent run at The Valley, and he’s had the benefit of a couple of nice trials leading up to his return.

Race 5 – 6:00pm AEDT – Stud And Stable Staff Awards Handicap (1000m)

There is a case to be made for a few in Race 5 at Ladbrokes Park this week, and while she didn’t fire last time in, I am going to give Tycoon Humma the chance to win fresh.

Tycoon Humma stamped herself as a filly to follow when debuting last autumn for consecutive wins, including the Listed Festival Stakes.

It is fair to say that she hardly fired a shot in the spring, however, and she was sent to the paddock after failing to beat a runner home in the Group 3 Champagne Stakes.

Her recent trial suggested that she has furnished into a stronger horse, and the big drop in class is obviously a bonus this week.

Race 6 – 6:30pm AEDT – Be A Mate, Nominate Handicap (1000m)

I thought that there was a lot to like about Madame Bolli’s resuming effort for third at The Valley, and she’ll take plenty of improvement into this contest.

The daughter of Written Tycoon has been a great horse for the Jim Conlan yard since debuting, and she has picked off some nice races throughout, finding form around some above-average gallopers.

With even luck in running, I can’t find a reason why she won’t be in the finish of something like this.

Race 7 – 7:00pm AEDT – Ladbrokes Live Betting Handicap (1300m)

Sir Davy is another second-up galloper with key winning prospects at Ladbrokes Park this week.

The Street Boss gelding was a little out of his depth in some decent Saturday metro races at the end of his last prep, but his fresh form was excellent, and included two wins and a second placing in his first three starts back.

He kept his best work for late when third at Pakenham earlier this month, and the small rise in trip this week will suit.

Race 8 – 7:30pm AEDT – Ladbrokes Punter Assist Handicap (1400m)

Muswellbrook looks to have return to the races in good form this time, and he strikes a winnable one at Ladbrokes Park on Wednesday.

The Lindsay Park-trained galloper has performed well in metro company throughout his career, and he has improved with each of his three starts back this time, only just missing over a mile at The Valley last time.

He steps out this week in peak order and has options from the rails draw under Luke Nolen.
