The John Sadler-trained Sartorial Splendor has always had a bit of a boom on him and the colt has started to deliver on that potential with his first stakes race win at The Valley.
Ridden by Jamie Kah in Saturday’s Group Three 1300 Australia Stakes (1200m) for three-year-olds, Sartorial Splendour led all the way to score by 1-3/4 -lengths.
It was the colt’s second victory at his sixth start and first win since his debut at Terang in April.
“That was really impressive,” Kah said.
“He’s a really talented horse.
“He’s just got a mind of his own. He’s very keen and wants to do it all a bit too much early. But if he learns to settle, he’s going to be a really nice horse.
“I galloped him on Tuesday and I’m glad I did because he’s a very difficult horse with his head carriage.”
Sartorial Splendor ($3.30) defeated the $3 favourite Condo’s Express while Three Beans was a short half-head away third.
