Snapdancer has the right moves in Triscay Stakes 2022

Snapdancer has broken through for her first stakes success at Randwick.

Ciaron Maher and David Eustace will continue to pick off some carnival targets for Snapdancer after she landed an overdue black-type win in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes at Randwick.

Snapdancer ($2.90 fav) mustered speed to take up the running in Saturday’s 1200m race and clicked into another gear halfway up the straight, booting clear to score comfortably over Promise Of Success ($7.50) with Electric Girl ($31) third.

The five-year-old has been carefully managed by Maher and Eustace, who kept her fresh following her victory at the Gold Coast Magic Millions carnival in mid-January.

“She was always a mare we thought would get better with time and she has really improved this preparation,” said Jo Gerard-Dubord, foreman for Maher and Eustace’s Sydney stable.

“We gave her a light spring and that is being rewarded now.

“She likes her runs to be spaced, she runs very well fresh. She stays a bit further, so we have plenty of options. There are plenty of nice races for mares.”

The start of the Triscay Stakes (1200m) was delayed when Moonshine Lady suffered a fatal injury in the starting stalls and had to be euthanased.

Vangelic was also a late scratching at the barriers.
