Three fillies and twelve colts and geldings make up the final fourteen-horse field plus one emergency for the 2020 Group 1 $1m Spring Champion Stakes over 2000m at Randwick on Saturday.
The David Payne trained filly Montefilia is the only Group 1 winner in the field, coming off a win in the Flight Stakes over 1600m at Randwick last Saturday.
The majority of the field is stepping up to the 2000m for the first time and the extra distance could be the telling factor for many of the three-year-olds’ chances.
We have analysed the entire field for the 2000m Group 1 for the 3yos and our complete 2020 Spring Champion Stakes tips can be found below!
Cherry Tortoni

The Patrick Payne trained Cherry Tortoni was a first up third in the Listed Exford Plate (1400m) at Flemington followed by a second in the Group 2 Stutt Stakes (1600m) at The Valley. Has solid form for a race like this.
Global Quest

Love Tap
Love Tap comes to the Spring Champion Stakes a real chance and is trying to keep his unbeaten record of four wins from four starts intact.
Love Tap completed a hat trick on the country circuit before keeping his strike rate perfect with his win in the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes over 1800m at Rosehill two weeks ago.
The Richard and Michael Freedman trained Love Tap is one of the main contenders again.
Street Dancer
Street Dancer raced on the pace and stuck on okay for second to Love Tap in the Gloaming Stakes and can figure amongst the prizemoney again.
Bucharest
Bucharest is an improving colt who handled the step up in class with a third in the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) at Rosehill.
Further improvement could see Bucharest figure in the finish again.

Montefilia

The David Payne trainer Montefilia showed she has plenty of class and fight and looks the one to beat again.
Miravalle
Miravalle raced on the pace but faded in the run to the line last start when sixth in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick last Saturday and will find this no easier.
Favreau
