Race 1 – 2:00pm – Elite Racing Solutions Maiden (1100m)
Egao returns to the races off a six month spell and is in for a good prep if her trial run is anything to go by.
The mare by Outreach won with plenty in hand at Longford to start the month, and she’s typically put in some strong performances first-up despite never having run a place.
Barrier 15 is the big query, but with not a lot of speed engaged, she should be able to shuffle across early and box-seat. Ismail Toker has been riding a stack of winners recently, so she’s in safe hands.
Race 2 – 2:35pm – Mercure Sunshine Coast Maiden/Class 1 (2100m)
No Surprises returns on the quick backup still searching for his first win.
The lightly-raced colt stuck on only fairly for seventh in the Tasmanian Derby last week, and he should find this slightly easier stepping back in grade.
He ran a big race the start prior when runner-up in the Launceston Guineas, and the step back to 2100m does look ideal for him at this stage of his prep.
Rock-hard fit for four runs back and down in the weights, he should be going close.
Race 3 – 3:15pm – Winning Edge Presentations Class 3 Handicap (1200m)
Lady Joker knows how to cash a cheque over 1200m with three wins and a couple of placings next to her name.
She wound up with a big run to fill the frame over the track and trip two weeks ago behind Selick, the same horse she finished 1.5L fifth to the start prior.
She’s fitter now for two runs back, and she should prove hard to hold out if Daniel Ganderton can produce her late.
Race 4 – 3:50pm – Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m)
Jaguar Stone ran third to undefeated two-year-old Bello Beau last time out in the Listed Gold Sovereign, and this does look slightly easier for her now dropping back in grade.
The Adam Trinder-trained filly staked her claim as a horse to watch earlier in the year when she won on debut at Hobart by two lengths, and she’s again drawn ideally in barrier 4 with Jason Maskiell retaining the ride.
The way she finished off last time out was impressive to say the least, and she does appear to have a class edge over most of these.
Race 5 – 4:20pm – Listed Tasmanian Oaks (2100m)
Trusting Brendon McCoull to get the job done here on Bundle of Fun.
The daughter of Written Tycoon strips fitter for four runs back and, like a couple others, is on a quick backup after running a length third to Miss Charlie Brown in the Strutt Stakes at Hobart last week.
She’s drawn a little better than that horse, and she’s also got form around impressive back-to-back Guineas winner Alpine Wolf.
McCoull has ridden the winner of the Gold Sovereign and the Tasmanian Derby this month, so this Adam Trinder-trained filly looks to be in good hands.
Race 6 – 5:00pm – Magic Millions 3YO/4YO Classic (1400m)
First Accused is three weeks between runs and tends to do his best racing when fresh.
The son of Turffontein bolted in to win over a similar journey at Hobart last time out and is more than capable of going on with it now based on recent form.
The Scott Brunton-trained four-year-old hasn’t missed the money in four starts this time in work, and his soft track record also makes for easy reading if there is any rain about.
Race 7 – 5:40pm – BM68 Handicap (1400m)
Coronation Glade is a two-time winner over this journey and rates as a top chance in his return from a let-up.
The Sigrid Carr-trained gelding returned a place over this trip at Launceston back in December and has also scored twice previously first-up from a spell.
Troy Baker has steered him to a couple of wins in the past, and the pair should be saving their best for late.
Race 8 – 5:00pm – Ladbrokes Fast Withdrawals BM62 Handicap (1600m)
Skilendra is a super honest customer that tends to find the money more often than not.
The daughter of Skilled won over the mile at Hobart three runs back and has since returned a place in back-to-back starts here at Launceston.
She’s drawn to get the gun run from barrier 1 and the booking of David Pires back in the saddle is an added bonus.
