1. DEAR DEMI

Has been very good in her two runs back this spell, firstly finishing third behind Nechita in the Silver Shadow and then was strong over the 1400m of the Furious Stakes a fortnight ago in recording a ¾ length win. Her two starts over a mile have resulted in a win in the Listed Fernhill Stakes and a second to Pierro in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes. Should be very hard to beat.

2. FLYING SNITZEL

Only fair first up in the Silver Shadow, finishing sixth beaten 2.8 lengths and at her most recent start, was ridden forward from her wide gate but only battled the last furlong, finishing  a well beaten fourth. Drawn wide here and would need to produce a significant turnaround of form to figure here.

3. JADE MARAUDER

Good filly who was beaten fair and square by Dear Demi last start. Third up here today and won the G3 Sweet Embrace when third up last preparation. She’ll probably give Dear Demi a start again here as they turn for home and on last start, don’t think she’ll be able to turn the tables.

4. MEIDUNG

Started 5/2 favourite in the G2 Furious Stakes and pushed Dear Demi all the way but fell ¾ of a length short in the end. She’s desperately been trying to register her second win and from her gate will well and truly be in the mix again.

5. LONGPORT

Had every chance when leading two starts back in a BM 75 race at Warwick Farm when scoring narrowly but capitulated at her next and most recent start, finishing over 25 lenghts from the smart Proisir. Has been to the trials and won since but still faces an almighty task here.

6. NORZITA

Never out of trouble as odds on favourite when finishing fifth (beaten 2.3) behind Longport two starts back before chasing home the smart Proisir (winner of the G3 Spring Stakes on Wednesday) a fortnight ago. On that run, would concede her a chance here.

7. CALAMBA

Has scored the one win from six career starts, that being a Restricted Metro win back in May of this year. She’s had two runs since in the G3 Up and Coming and her most recent start, the G2 Furious Stakes and was well accounted for in both. Not here.

8. DOLPHUS

Will find this a lot harder than her most recent start where she finished second in a Gosford Maiden. That was her sixth attempt at recording a win and appears to be shooting way too high here taking on these fillies.

9. VAQUERA

Has only had the one career start, where she finished fifth in a Canterbury Maiden. She’s a well bred type and her breeding suggests she’ll enjoy the step up to the mile but this obviously a big jump in class.

OVERVIEW

Really liking Dear Demi in this event @ $3.00. She beat her rivals fair and square last start and her past performances over this distance suggest she’s open to further improvement. Meidung ($4.20) the main danger given that she’ll be camped up on the speed from her good draw. Jade Marauder ($4.60) and Norzita ($4.40) to finish well late. Would be a major surprised if the winner came outside of the abovementioned runners.
