The Drinks Cart back on track for 2020 Magic Millions Classic

Promising two-year-old The Drinks Cart has put a slight setback behind him and worked strongly as he prepares to resume his Magic Millions Classic quest.

The Drinks Cart rocketed into Magic Millions calculations when an impressive winner at the Gold Coast last month.

He was sent for a short break with the Phelan Ready Stakes as his aim to get enough money to qualify for the Millions 2YO Classic.

But co-trainers Toby and Trent Edmonds held him back when they were not happy with his blood count.

As it turned out the Phelan Ready was washed out last Friday and switched to Wednesday.

In the meantime, The Drinks Cart worked strongly on Saturday and Tuesday mornings.

He will run in the $125,000 QTIS Two-Year-Old Plate (1000m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

“He appears spot-on. It wasn’t a major problem but we have a bit of time to get him into the Millions so we didn’t want to risk him,” Trent Edmonds said.

The Drinks Cart has $19,800 prize money and even second on Saturday will put him close to qualifying for the $2 million Millions on January 11 at the Gold Coast.

Another of the stable’s two-year-olds, Wisdom Of Water, finished second in a trial at Doomben on Tuesday.

Wisdom Of Water started long odds on at his only start on the back of a brilliant trial in October but pulled up shin sore after being well beaten.

The colt was ridden off the pace on Tuesday but was very strong at the finish.

A decision on Wisdom Of Water’s next start will be made when Toby Edmonds returns from a trip to New Zealand where the stable has Winter Bride preparing for the Group One Railway at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day.
