The Monstar will get his chance at Group One level in the Stradbroke Handicap with Aquis Farm stepping in to pay the late entry fee.
Trained by Brett Cavanough at Scone, The Monstar claimed his biggest win in Saturday’s Moreton Cup at the Sunshine Coast.
The gelding was not in the original entries for Satruday’s Stradbroke (1350m) at Doomben but with the winner of the Group Two Moreton Cup guaranteed a start, the race came into calculations.
Aquis will pay the $45,000 to ensure The Monstar takes his place.
He has been introduced to the TAB’s market as a $34 chance.
The Monstar has yet to win beyond 1200m but with rain forecast in Brisbane leading up to race day, he should get his preferred surface.
“Aquis are delighted to be able to support local Hunter Valley trainer @cavanoughracing and get #TheMonstar a late entry into next weekend’s #Stradbroke,” Aquis said on Twitter.
“Brett has been a good supporter of Aquis and we are delighted to be able to reward supporters and help regional trainers.”
