Top jockey cleared to ride on Caulfield Guineas day

Ben Melham has successfully appealed the careless riding suspension which had threatened to rule him out of riding on Caulfield Guineas day.

Melham was suspended for nine meetings following his ride on Keysor in Race 2 at last Thursday’s Ballarat meeting.

The 29-year-old jockey successfully appealed the severity of the ban and had two days shaved off the suspension, allowing him to ride at Caulfield on Saturday.

Melham is booked to ride Caulfield Guineas contender Perast and last year’s Myer Classic winner I Am A Star in the Group One Toorak Handicap.
