Symon Wilde keen on his 2021 Australasian Oaks chances

Sirileo Miss will be out to provide her trainer Symon Wilde with a maiden Group 1 win when she contests the Australasian Oaks at Morphettville.

With the Warrnambool carnival around the corner for one of the local trainers Symon Wilde, his attention will be Adelaide for a day when Sirileo Miss contests the Group 1 Australasian Oaks at Morphettville.

Wilde will saddle a big team of runners over the three-day May Carnival commencing next Tuesday, but Sirileo Miss will be his focus on Saturday as the filly strives to give Wilde a maiden Group 1 success.

Sirileo Miss will be lining up for her sixth race start on Saturday and is coming off a last start third to Tyche Goddess in the Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) on April 17.

On that occasion, from the draw, jockey Dom Tourneur elected to roll forward and was in front turning for home.

“She’s had a funny preparation,” Wilde told RSN.

“First-up she got right back, in a short race, and hit the line really well and I think going out to 2000 metres we’d love to see her get cover.

“She’s drawn the middle of the field, so she’ll get a great opportunity to do that. She doesn’t have to go right back, but I’d definitely love to see her with cover.

“I thought she was quite well-ridden under the circumstances last time.

“Dom didn’t have too many other options other than slide forward as he was going to be posted.”

Wilde would like to see some rain hit Adelaide in advance of Saturday’s meeting.

However, the weather forecast does not look promising for Wilde with an expected top temperature of 28c on Saturday.

“I think she’s lengths better on a soft track, but I’m not sure we’re going to get that but any rain, it falls into her favour,” Wilde said.

“She looks like she’s looking for the 2000 metres and fitness won’t be a problem.”
