Race 1 – 12:03pm – Class 3 Plate (1050m)
Excelness is yet to miss a place in six career starts which includes three wins.
The lightly raced four year old mare kick started this campaign with a win at Scone over 900m and she will take plenty of benefit out of that run.
Race 2 – 12:38pm – Benchmark 72 Handicap (2000m)
Takeittothelimit was beaten four lengths when resuming over 1600m but the run was full of merit over an unsuitable distance.
She will appreciate the step up in distance now and has two wins from four second up attempts.
She represents good each way value at her current price.
Race 3 – 1:13pm – 2YO Handicap (1200m)
Celestial Spirit was excellent when scoring on debut over the short course at Scone three weeks ago as the short priced favourite.
Leading into that debut run, she won a trial at Canterbury beating home the favourite in this race, Soaring Ambition, by almost two lengths.
One is even money and the other double figures.
Race 4 – 1:48pm – 0-90 Handicap (1200m)
The 1000m was simply too short for Goodonya Sonja first up at Eagle Farm but her run was full of merit regardless.
The seven year old grey mare will appreciate the step up in trip now and in a race that is quite difficult to get a firm read on, I’m happy to have a small each way place at the big odds.
Race 5 – 2:28pm – Benchmark 78 Handicap (1350m)
The Tony Gollan trained Salateen is a progressive type of mare who has been racing consistently right throughout this long campaign.
She has been kept fresh with six weeks in between runs, the last of which saw her win impressively by 1.5 lengths at Doomben.
The daughter of I Am Invincible looks well placed in this particular event and she can step up to a higher grade of race in time.
Race 6 – 3:08pm – Magic Millions Shoot Out (2000m)
Wapati was no match for Tears Of Love late in the race at Eagle Farm over 2200m but the step back in distance here will suit him.
He has put together six consecutive placings in a row and fitness should not be an issue at this stage in his prep.
He’s the one to beat.
Race 7 – 3:48pm – Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1350m)
Tiger Heart was a touch disappointing in the Gold Edition at Eagle Farm but he returns to Doomben where he has performed better in the past.
He is a winner over 1400m so the step up in distance should be of an advantage and he has drawn to get a nice run in transit from barrier two.
Race 8 – 4:28pm – The Buffering (1350m)
Apache Chase got within 1.7 lengths of I’m Thunderstruck when he heading to Sydney for The Golden Eagle.
He proved his dominance over the four year old’s here in Brisbane when returning home and winning The Gateway by two and a half lengths and he looks well placed in this event.
He has won six of 10 at this distance and is the horse to beat.
Race 9 – 5:08pm – Listed Nudgee Stakes (1200m)
Miami Fleiss is an exciting and progressive mare who has barely put a foot wrong throughout her short career so far.
She has won five of seven including a Listed event here at Doomben last start and she represents good value at her current price.
Katalin is another mare with a good winning record with five wins from nine career starts who brings in winning form to this race in Sydney.
